deawebo Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Santiago's tennis court renders look a lot like Daegu Stadium Btw, Santiago is gonna win. Nice projects, does the Estadio Nacional will have a roof if they win?
Nacholympic Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Santiago's tennis court renders look a lot like Daegu Stadium Btw, Santiago is gonna win. Nice projects, does the Estadio Nacional will have a roof if they win? That's is a recent announcement: the roof for Julio Martínez Pradenas National Stadium for 2015 American Cup. Some years ago, a giant reestructuration of the entire stadium was announced. Due to bad policies and lack of serious studies, the roof was not possible to build. It gathered a big controversy, since it was just a Politic issue instead a serious announcement. Anyway, sits and athletic track were renewed. This time I hope it should be a serious announcement.
Nacholympic Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Next Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 April, PASO will visit Santiago to evauate the bid.... Go Santiago!!!!
Nacholympic Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 Santiago's tennis court renders look a lot like Daegu Stadium Btw, Santiago is gonna win. The main improving is the roof of the Stadium
runningrings Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 Santiago is gorgeous. The PanAms are lucky to have a such a city to hold its event in. Total shame about seasonal OWG issues - Santiago would be a stunning location for the Winter Olympics.

Total shame about seasonal OWG issues - Santiago would be a stunning location for the Winter Olympics. Even with that Chile is not going to invest billions of dollars on an event where it has sent a combined 68 athletes to in its history. No hockey, curling, sledding sports even exist. New Zealand would be a better option. But Pan Ams definitely Chile
Nacholympic Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 Santiago is gorgeous. The PanAms are lucky to have a such a city to hold its event in. Total shame about seasonal OWG issues - Santiago would be a stunning location for the Winter Olympics. Sadly, we will never bid for the Winter Olympics. It has been said for the Chilean Olympic Committee. The main reason, is the seasonal one. Despite it should be the greatest oportunity that the world has ever staged to watch the most incredible performances - takins in consideration the full preperation time the athletes would have - it's totally out of context for northern audience to watch the Winter Olympics in July, August or September, the date that Chile could host the Winter Olympics. Besides, there is no a develop of Winter sports in Chile, no mass go to the mountains (still it remians too expensive for popular practice) and we have no followings audience for Winter Soprts nor in Chile, neither South America. The oprational costs are huge and we have no expectations to use the venues in mass scale again. All of that are the reasons that Chile could not host the WO. They are the same reasons for any South American country. Nevertheless, it's a pretty sad reason, since in Chile we have the best landscapes for Winter sports practices, not only in Stgo but in the suouth of the country, too. The best ones in South America. The Winter complex, just 20 kilometers from Santiago calles "Portillo" is wellknown as "The South American Saint Moritz". A great pitty for us. Here you have some links where you can get information about the best Winter resorts in Chile. Portillo: 40 km from Stgo. http://www.skiportillo.com/?lang=en Valle Nevado: 46km to East Santiago http://www.vallenevado.com/en/ El Colorado: 39 km East Santiago http://www.elcolorado.cl/en/ La Parva: 35 km East Stgo http://www.laparva.cl/ All of them are just 30 to 40 East Stgo. In the Soth of Chile we have a lot more, but thet could not be part of a venue for the Olympics becasue of the distance...
Nacholympic Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 Following the Pan Am topic, here you have a pic of the project for the Panamerican Village in 2019.
deawebo Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 I really admire Chile, if there is one country I will like to visit it Chile is the most developed country in Latin America. Hope they get the games! Thanks Nacho, the Estadio Nacional will looks better with roof by Copa America. More impressive and elegant La Punta. Reminds me of Hambantota. indeed! But why I have the feeling La Punta's bid will have the same fate than Hambantota?
