BR2028
Does anyone think that a US city will bid? My choice is San Francisco, New York, or New Orleans.

BR2028
Bids were long due so no american bid for this round. Though miami made noise. I was expecting that, they would be my choice after NOLA. So then I guess the next time is 2023?

yoshi
La Punta...OMG. Do they seriously think they can hold one of the world's biggest sporting events in a field in the middle of nowhere? It's like trying to hold the Commonwealths in Tiverton.
cslopes54
This is between Santiago and Lima. But sure that Stgo will be awarded. The bid is by far the best.
Nacholympic
Does anyone think that a US city will bid? My choice is San Francisco, New York, or New Orleans. The bid election is closed since January 2013. The official candidates are La Punta, Ciudad Bolviar, Lima ans Santiago, being the latest two the contenders in the race. Victor Mata
Rio beating San Antonio was not surprising lol. It sure was! It was in 2002, Brazilian economy wasn't that stellar by the time and Rio had TONS of promises to fulfill. San Antonio seemed to be more reliable despite being much less ambitious or international. ^^ Worst drama was when Indianapolis was picked for the 1987 games instead of Havana, which prompted PASO to give the 1991 games to them in order to calm down Castro since he was already throwing tantrums because of it. THAT! And the american athletes commuting daily from Tampa to avoid the PanAm Village because of alleged food poisoning in Havana!

Nacholympic
Just 50 days away to the election for the 2019 Pan Am host city. Here there is a video about how favorable Santiago could be as a host city for the PAn Am Games http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjtbEw8hF3g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjtbEw8hF3g
Roger87
If there's justice, Santiago will win 2019 Pan American Games. Good Luck!!
Iceman
I was expecting that, they would be my choice after NOLA. So then I guess the next time is 2023? I not sure if America cares enough about the Pan Am Games to mount a serious bid. I don't think they get a whole lot of coverage despite being "covered" (and I use that term loosely) by ESPN. Although if a US city were going to bid, I would prefer Minneapolis or Columbus.

intoronto
according to atr its a race between lima and santiago with lima having the slight edge. lima has the caribbean support, the reason toronto won 2015.
Ikarus360
^^ Funny. I thought the Venezuelan bid was the one going to play the Caribbean card for their bid. I wonder what happened to that. What is sure is that the Puerto Ordaz bid comittee is trying to get support from Central America at this moment. Victor Mata
Lima is currently hosting the first South American Youth Games. Lima's got bad luck: the cauldron had a malfunction! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3Up-qHuW_U

yoshi
Puerto Ordaz?? Who are they? And if they're Venezuela, then what's Ciudad Bolivar? Beats the Argentine field I guess. Love to know what Danny thinks of that.

yoshi
I don't know who to pick between Santiago & Lima. Maybe if there were bidbooks out there it would help. I know there were bidbooks available for the 2015 race, but seemingly not for 2019.
