thatsnotmypuppy Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 OK - this is how we will do this. Not unlike an IOC style bid we are having a secret ballot. From now until 11:30pm Melbourne time (24 hours from now) I will accept votes to nyc2012@gmail.com You MUST use the header - "2022 vote" I want you to give me a single city name - so either - Gold Coast, Liverpool, Perth, Singapore or Toronto Each vote is worth one point. When you email me let me know your GB login name - just in case I dont recognise your email One vote per member please. I will keep records of all votes in case there is any dispute further along. If we have a majority winner than that is it. Game over. If we have a draw for last place I will start a poll in this forum to decide a winner. Each round will commence at the announcement of the last rounds loser. I will not release a total vote until the vote is over. So get going. The clock is ticking - 24 hours - go!
Scotguy Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Please help and support us to 'Go for Gold' for the Commonwealth Games in 2022 The City of Toronto
Citius Altius Fortius Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 After the report was published we decided to change some of the venues to get an even more compact venue plan - we will publish the new venue plan later (since the head of the bid team is busy in the office right now)
Scotguy Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 To give voters, a taste of what Toronto has to offer, the bid team would like to share with you all, the 2015 Pan am Games bid video The same spirit would be evident for 2022

Rafa Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 In future we should aim for a "live vote"
Scotguy Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 We here at Toronto 2022, believe we should win the vote because we have, as a city and a nation, detailed ourt bid plans to the highest calibar. We have managed a budget for our bid which has enabled us to provide detailed information, many pictures, and ideas. We have full financial backing for Stadium Toronto We have the 'Going for Gold' Scheme which is unique to our bid and no other We have provided a logo, a slogan, and a Goldie, our mascot We have an official bid song sung by Canada's own, Bryan Adams We have produced a line of merchandising for the bid We have included some promotional videos for our bid We have worked tiresly to provide lots of information and ideas that would make Toronto 2022, one of the best Commonwealth Games of all time. We only hope that with your help, we can make this a reality. Let us 'Go for Gold' in 2022, let the athletes 'Go for Gold' in our city in 2022 TORONTO 2022
Doc Steel Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 In future we should aim for a "live vote" Not a bad idea, but what time of the day would it be done? As you can see, we've got members from the U.S. to South Africa to Australia. Drastically different time zones all around!
Doc Steel Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Hence the inverted commas. Well then, what is your idea? Have everyone vote over a 12-hour period? I'm just interested in hearing.
thatsnotmypuppy Posted November 4, 2009 Author Report Posted November 4, 2009 Mo - as I said I will announce the complete votes at the end of the entire vote. If for instance Perth drops out and I say they only got 7 votes out of 43 what purpose does it serve? I can certainly post how many votes were received for each round but will not release what each city got. After the vote is done I will post everything. IOC style. Oh and you can vote for your own city in this comp.
Rafa Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 I will not be voting given my involvement in the evaluation.
Scotguy Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Think that future votes should be done they way they always are. By a poll, at least this method was tried and tested
Sir Rols Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Think that future votes should be done they way they always are. By a poll, at least this method was tried and tested mmmm. We;ve ha some heated arguments over poll-based votes. Easily rigged. For fairness and openness, I prefer the method where people just post their choice in a voting thread. That said, I didn't mind this method for once, and maybe it deserved it for such a high qualoity comp. This time I felt I was able to really vote for the bid I thought was best, and not have to worry about not supporting GB mates' bids or whose nose I might get out of joint.
