gotosy
Schumacher makes F1 return Michael Schumacher will return to Formula 1 in 2010, after Mercedes GP confirmed on Wednesday that the seven-time world champion is joining its team next year. The German has been linked with the outfit ever since Mercedes-Benz took over Brawn GP, and he finally concluded his deal to make a sensational F1 return earlier this week. Schumacher's move to Mercedes GP marks a reunion between himself and the German car maker that helped push him into F1. He raced for Mercedes-Benz as part of its junior driver programme, competing in world sportscar events during 1990 and 1991. Schumacher's decision means that Mercedes GP will field an all-German driver line-up in 2010, having already confirmed several weeks ago that Nico Rosberg will race for it. 4gamesandcounting
Not sure what to think. In some ways - it's really cool. In other ways - it feels a bit yesterday. It was a great season anyway with Lewis-Jenson, Fernando-Massa, the old boys (Ferrari/McLaren) vs the new kids (Red Bull, Brawn). Doesn't this take away from it a bit?! Westfale
This sport is just over for me. I really cant understand why so many are going crazy. We have been betrayed! Not just by an hand ball but by a planned accident. Maybe the whole season was planned. Who knows? I lost my trust. I am not sure, if you know the hype here in Germany over the comeback. Schumacher is driving for a German team. He´s coming home... media says. I thought F1 would slowly die here in Germany, but now it is alive like never before! Rob2012
The planned accident was between three idiots, and all of them have left the sport. Alonso may or may not have known about it but he's at a different team now. And that was the season before last, not last season.
gotosy
^speaking of the devil... Briatore's ban overturned by French courtTue, 05 Jan 14:36:00 2010 Flavio Briatore, former boss of the Renault Formula One team, had a life ban imposed by the sport's governing body overturned by a French court on Tuesday. The Italian was banned by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) in September for his role in a plot to rig the outcome of the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix. "The court ruled the sanction was illegal," the judge told the Paris court. Briatore was awarded 15,000 euros (13,480 pounds) in compensation. The FIA's legal team said it would probably be launching an appeal. Brazilian Nelson Piquet blew the lid off one of Formula One's biggest scandals after being dropped by Renault in July when he told the FIA that he had been ordered to crash deliberately at the 2008 race in Singapore. He said he had done so to bring out the safety car and help his Spanish team mate Fernando Alonso win the race. Former champions Renault were handed a suspended permanent ban while engineering head Pat Symonds was banned for five years. Briatore launched his legal case in October, claiming his right to a free and fair defence to the charges was flouted. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/05012010/2/b...ench-court.html

gotosy
Renault team boss Eric Boullier says the squad might not sign its second driver before the first tests of its 2010 car at Valencia in early February. It's not decided yet, very frankly," Boullier told AUTOSPORT when asked about Renault's driver plans. "We are still looking at several drivers available on the market. Two of them are experienced, two of them are rookies. We are now the last established team [without two drivers] and the situation is very different than in July, when you could discuss with everybody. Boullier confirmed that Nick Heidfeld, Kubica's former team-mate at BMW Sauber, was among the contenders. "It would be a lie to say 'no'," he said. "Definitely it's a different question because he has spent so many years with Robert. The question mark is if we want to put them together again or not. But he is on the list. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80981
