Scotguy Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Toronto 2022 would like to address some of the issues brought up in the report. Bid Book http://www.troywatts.com/sitebuilderconten...toronto2022.pdf As a green games we would use mostly renewable energy at our venues and provide a regeneration to the citys waterfront area. This area will be regenerated to include many sporting venues and arenas regardles of the outcome of the bid. Promotional video if the City of Toronto 75% of the venues are built so we will not have to build many more. Also the 80000 seater Stadium Toronto will be used for a future olympic bid and also the 2015 pan am games so will be a permanent part of our citys sporting legacy. This already has full financial backing of the Canadian Government Stadium Toronto Also the 'going for gold' scheme is unique to our bid and no other. This gives every athlete the chance to 'go for gold' by allowing them to use the sporting facilities available in Canada, with a free Gold Card Official Bid Song We are also releasing a range of merchandise to help promote our bid Any questions please ask
Scotguy Posted November 3, 2009 Author Report Posted November 3, 2009 Following the shortlist announcement, the CEO of the city's bid met with Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada and gained these assurances: Full financial backing to build the 80,000 seater Stadium Toronto To guarantee the 'Going for Gold' scheme to enable athletes to use the country's sporting facilities, in the run up to the games. To include the Toronto 2022 Bid details in current tourist promotional material Increased the budget available to the bid team He also stated that he would like to thank the CGF for Toronto's inclusion in the shortlist and would do everything he could to help the city win the Games for 2022
Doc Steel Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 I just want to see a specific venue plan, and how it compares to the plan for the 2015 Pan-Ams. I would be more than willing to throw my support behind Toronto if I like what I see in terms of venues.
Scotguy Posted November 3, 2009 Author Report Posted November 3, 2009 Thank you for your comment Doc To answer this i would like to draw your attention to the venue section of the bid document. Although this is not extensive, the main reason for this is because the venue plans for the Pan Am Games is a vision that we also support as best for the city so these plans would be also used during the games in 2022, with some modifications. Stadium Toronto, the aquatics centre and velodrome would be new venues, built in time for 2015 and beyond 75% of the venues are already built and would need slight renovations come games time, we believe that we do not have to build completely new venues or use different stadia for cermonies, athletics, rugby etc, our aim is to build minimal world class facilities that can be used for Pan Am Games, Comonwealth Games and Olympic Games.
Scotguy Posted November 15, 2009 Author Report Posted November 15, 2009 Today, the Toronto 2022 bid committee for the Commonwealth Games disbanded. We would like the thank everyone for their support. We are proud of our bid, and hope to bring the games back to Canada in the near future. Last night, a huge fireworks display lit up the sky of Toronto, as we celebrated the 2015 Pan Am Games win and to sign of our bid in style From the CEO and the Bid Committee, thank you and goodnight
