beebee
The HI Central Hostel has just released a new block of rooms and beds, including Private/ensuite and Private/shared bath. Seems to be wide availability at the moment. Rates, including tax are $150/night for the ensuite and something like $115 for the shared.

fti
I am doing substantially better than the guy who wrote the article: flights to Vancouver, returning from Seattle - $10 using miles bus from Vancouver to Seattle - $50 Housing (12 nights in hostels including private room for 5 nights) - $890 9 event tickets $579 Transportation - $100 Food (grocery store, make own meals) - $200 Total cost should be well under $2,000 for 12 nights and 9 events. Also, I booked the private room in the Vancouver Downtown hostel. However, right now I am traveling along. I will try to find another single guy who wants to share the room. If that works out, then my cost will go down even more. John

drowninginair
Seems ok for Vancouver, Does anyone have any accommodation ideas for Whistler? Looking for one night only. I know that VANOC keeps pushing http://www.whistler.com/olympics/accommodation/ and while there is vacancy, a quick check seems to have everything in the $400-$600 range. About 2 months ago I was able to get a 1-night stay in Whistler for $260 using Travelocity.ca...might try your luck there as well.

J. McCartney
Another option for affordable accommodations in Whistler is coming up in an RV. Whistler RV Park and Campgrounds is located close to the UBC Winter Lodge and still has some sites available. They have nightly prices from $40 to $159 during February and March take a look at www.whistlerrvpark.com for more information.
