barrack
i checked both boxes. heh. i love them both, but the winter olympics tend to have a more magical feel to them. those majestic mountain vistas are just so amazing!
Sir Rols
To me, the Summer Games are the main course, and the Winters are dessert. And as someone with a sweet tooth, that dessert can sometimes be as memorable and enjoyable as the main dish. Like Faster, Lillehammer was also one of my favourite and most memorable games. But still my anticipation is always greatest for the Summer Games.

Sir Rols
Whilst most people appreciate the athleticism of the athletes, your clearly appreciate other 'features' . When it comes to the games, I reckon a huge part of the attraction and worldwide viewership is for more than just the sport. Honestly, sex appeal is part of the whole marketing of sports and the games. There's a reason the Beach Volleyball Federation, for example, mandates bikinis for women competitors. And that goes a long way to explaining why Beach Volleyball would rate far higher viewership than weightlifting or fencing. Succesfull pin-up athletes win their popularity and profiles as much from their looks and physiques as achievements. Even th Ancient Greeks knew it - if only we were back to the days of nude competition!

It's got everything - female muscles, big deep voices and sexy moustaches! Who wants to watch a sexy women in a bikini frolicking in the sand when you can watch a Communist sex machine grunting as their eyes explode trying to lift a bar that weighs 3 times their bodyweight! Westfale
I prefer Winter Games, because they are smaller and more familiar. Not every thing is perfect in the winter sports, but the federations like ISU, FIS or IBU are doing much more against doping compared to FINA, FIFA or IAAF. There are always a few black sheeps, but when a Norwegian wins a medal I think he is clean. Same with the others, even with the majority of Russian athletes. I dont think so in the summer sports. I dont trust Britta Steffen, I dont trust Micheal Phelps, I dont trust Chris Hoy, I dont trust Usain Bolt.. The federations are so blind when it comes to doping. It is hard for me to enjoy the competitions. Plus, I really didnt enjoy the Beijing Games. Ok, the broadcasting times werent perfect, but the most annoying fact about these Games was the atmosphere. I´ve never experienced such a clinical atmosphere during a sport event. No, I didnt like it. Saying that, I expect the opposite in London. The Britons are Europe's chaos fetishists. They dont care about late coming trains. They stay cool. They really know how to party and I expect that in 2012.

LMAO I disagree It's not about the games being *dirty* lol, think of the fact that in the summer olypmics a lot more nations are able to compete And the games are about competition and fair play! How many winter olympics medals did Nigera win for instance? I think they're all gonna be home watching TV Or training for the summer olympics

He's not a doper like you are suggesting. Winter sports have just as much a doping history as the Summer games aswell.

Oh come on mate, they don't all look half bad: The trick is to stick whit the -48 kilos, tough... Oh, that and she is not communist And she only finished tenth out of 14 Anyway, as far as doping goes, the only winter sport where I suspect there is a lot of hidden doping is Ice Hockey... Seriously, the NHL's drug policy is a tragic joke at best. They don't even have testing during the playoffs!

4gamesandcounting
Track cycling is different to endurance/road racing though.I think there is a differnce between Road and Track/BMX in terms of drugs. Also the Tour have clamped down a lot on it in the last couple of years. It;s actually probably a lot cleaner than some other sports now.
Roux
Winter Olympics are lame, especially the biathalon. That's the stupidest sport ever. I do enjoy the opening/closing ceremonies, although the Torino's were a somewhat odd in some parts like that flaming rollerblader.

baron-pierreIV
Winter Olympics are lame, especially the biathalon. That's the stupidest sport ever. Not anymore stupid than the triathlon. The biathlon has military roots. What does the triathlon have? Nothing but 2 less sports than the pentathlon and 7 less than the decathlon. The biathlon is great because it's about total self-control. After the X-country laps, when your pulse is raging, you are supposed to slow it down so you can hit your marks. And if you fail, then you do the penalty laps!! Does triathlon have this? Of course not. The biathlon is the would-be assassin's perfect sport. The triathlon is for all those dandies who like to run in those lycra outfits and sport those snazzy biking helmets. Now, tell me, which is the purer sport?
