New National Olympic Committees

^^ Serbia NOC is going to get veeeeeeeeeeery pissy if this happens. They are very sensitive towards the Kosovo issue, I dare to say they could even boycott Rio if Kosovo NOC is recognized.

They already have and Russia is also not too happy. Both will "appeal".

Serbia Protests IOC Kosovo Provisional Recognition

Serbia has officially protested the International Olympic Committee's decision to grant provisional recognition to Kosovo.

The move by the IOC executive board on Wednesday clears the way for the Kosovo to send an independent team to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Full recognition will be proposed at the IOC assembly in Monaco in December.

Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008. Serbia has refused to accept the split.

Serbia's Olympic Committee on Thursday said it "strongly condemned" the IOC decision and lodged a formal protest. It said further moves will depend on official Serbian policies toward Kosovo and recommendations by politicians.

Serbia contends that Kosovo cannot be recognized by the IOC as it is not an U.N. member.

And I'm sure in some way Greece is too along with (definitely) Serbia and its older bro Russia. Obviously, cause if Kosovo was to plan on being a new UN member. Russia, as a permanent Security Council member, will deny that with its no vote largely out of respect to its kid brother Serbia, as we all know.

Nothing to do with respect, but with Russia's political agenda. If it were South Ossetia and not Kosovo, Russia would back it up.

Kosovo's NOC has been fully recognised:

The International Olympic Committee has granted full recognition to Kosovo, meaning the Balkan country can send an independent team to the 2016 Games in Rio.

The IOC made the decision on Tuesday, formally ratifying the provisional recognition granted in October by the executive board.

Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008. Serbia has refused to accept the breakaway province’s independence. The move to give Olympic recognition to Kosovo had been opposed by Serbian officials.

Kosovo becomes the 205th national Olympic committee recognised by the IOC.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) today approved the full recognition of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of South Sudan during its 128th Session in Kuala Lumpur. It becomes the latest territory to be recognised following the NOC of Kosovo last December. The IOC now counts 206 NOCs.

As expected with South Sudan. Too bad Macao, the separate islands from the since-dissolved Netherlands Antilles (Bonaire, Curacao, St. Maarten), and New Calendonia, and Tahiti can't do it unless they turn independent. Macao had its chance well before 2008, really it should've done over 20 years ago. If Western Sahara can finally break free from Morocco's annexation, it could be next. Can't see the Faroe Islands. I wonder how many of those Netherlands Antilles athletes will make the 2016 Dutch Olympic Team now? Not many, maybe one to four.

Guess Tsar Vlad has bigger things than Kosovo breaking free from Serbia. He's apparently pretty much letting it go, despite Russia's close brotherly relationship with Serbia.

A lot of the Antilles athletes are also competing for Aruba.
