DannyelBrazil Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Ziraldo and Vik Muniz, two Brazilian plastic artists have drawn , by request of Fantástico, Brazilian weekly TV News show, one Mascot and a logo both for Rio 2016. Vik drawn the sun logo (which BTW I found BORING and Flat... Here comes the sun again! Enough of PanAm's DejaVu Hullabaloo! And sugar loaf AGAIN!) and Ziraldo drawn the Brazilian Girl Mascot, which I really liked. A female represented in a mascot, something really innovative. He even said that she could be presented in various forms, wearing diverse types of clothes, not only the Biquini. I watched it... Both ideas got ugly!!!
Denis-The-Dentist Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 I watched it... Both ideas got ugly!!! I think Ziraldo's idea was quite interesting! I could dress that girl up in many Brazilian folk costumes and MAN I loved her hair! The hairdresser in me says we could see lots of hairdos, one for each occasion during the games!
Victor Mata Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 The Ziraldo Girl is cute. But I bet a lot of those feminist would find absurd the idea of a beautiful feminine-looking woman being a mascot. And the logo is really boring. Not even worth of the Paralympics (no offense)
Sir Rols Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 The Ziraldo Girl is cute. But I bet a lot of those feminist would find absurd the idea of a beautiful feminine-looking woman being a mascot. And the logo is really boring. Not even worth of the Paralympics (no offense) Sigh! I quite like the idea of a sexy biquini, but yeah, it'd probably be too politically incorrect, even if she was paied with a beach boy.
Victor Mata Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Sigh! I quite like the idea of a sexy biquini, but yeah, it'd probably be too politically incorrect, even if she was paied with a beach boy. Well, it wouldn't be so politically incorrect if they were a couple. I think their names would be "Girl from Ipanema" and "Boy from Rio". So many songs to draw inspiration...
lucas_leobas Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 I think it should be a hyper active sloth. They're South Americans, right? THAT IS ONE GREAT IDEA  Look how cute: In portuguese they're called bicho-preguiça(its litteral translation means lazy-animal).
Victor Mata Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 The sloth is cute and all and it will be and instant joke if something gets behind schedule
Denis-The-Dentist Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 THAT IS ONE GREAT IDEA  Look how cute: In portuguese they're called bicho-preguiça(its litteral translation means lazy-animal). Cute or not, Please,no! Not a Brazilian version of Misha...
lucas_leobas Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 THAT IS ONE GREAT IDEA  Look how cute: In portuguese they're called bicho-preguiça(its litteral translation means lazy-animal). They're lazy and they're always smiling. How can you be more carioca than that? That was obviously a joke.
Denis-The-Dentist Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 They're lazy and they're always smiling. How can you be more carioca than that? That was obviously a joke. That has nothing to do with Cariocas. Cariocas are hard workers despite of what Paulistas try to pain them.
baron-pierreIV Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 I can't find Pereira. I think he got left in my old computer at the last job. Am kinda busy for the next 10 days or so...but maybe I can recreate himif you guys'll be patient.
DannyelBrazil Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Pereira, the Piranha is a well done charge made by Baron like the girl-in-bikini made by Ziraldo... Both are charges.
Citius Altius Fortius Posted October 7, 2009 Author Report Posted October 7, 2009 THAT IS ONE GREAT IDEA  Look how cute: In portuguese they're called bicho-preguiça(its litteral translation means lazy-animal). Lol - in German it is the same name: "Faultier" (literally translation would be "lazy-animal", too)
Rogerioandrade Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 They're lazy and they're always smiling. How can you be more carioca than that? That was obviously a joke. HAHAHAHAH. Sorry, I couldn´t keep my laughing. Of course that´s just a joke. But.. no.... not a sloth. A lazy animal doesn´t fit the sportive theme.
tpman Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 They're lazy and they're always smiling. How can you be more carioca than that? That was obviously a joke. Ouch! LOL! Good joke!
ken Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 THAT IS ONE GREAT IDEA  Look how cute: Thanks for the picture. Cute indeed! They're lazy and they're always smiling. How can you be more carioca than that? But.. no.... not a sloth. A lazy animal doesn´t fit the sportive theme. Not just a sloth. A hyperactive sloth, that's the twist
Victor Mata Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 A lazy animal doesn´t fit the sportive theme. But the sloth is not lazy. They're just very slow, like the turtles and snails. But poor sloths were the ones to bear that unfair name...
Bezzi Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 I think, by the environmental situation which our planet is and the image of Brazil as a country concerned about the environment, the 2016 games will be themed as "green olympics". The mascot could be a plant (from brazilian flora, of course) in the form of a doll as the nice Caue (from 2007 PANAM).
Braz Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 I would suggest as main mascot a character closely based on the Bonito-do-campo, also named Bandeirinha ("Little flag", for obvious reasons), the Chlorophonia cyanea, a widespread bird in Rio de Janeiro (including in the national parks located in the city of Rio itself):
Mangle Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 that is one of the cutest birds i've ever seen. It would be neat to see them make that a mascot.
Dinhu4ever Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Hey, how about the Golden Lion Tamarin? It's out most famous and, interestingly enough, least portrayed in the media monkey! It looks cute on our R$20 bills, it would sure looked cool with its face stamped on every piece of merchandising one can imagine! The little bird and the Golden Lion can be BFF like all the previous mascot teams! XD
DannyelBrazil Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Honestly, I don't expect an animal...
Braz Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Brazil has one of the most diverse and beautiful fauna in the world. If these sportocrats don't choose an animal, it's their loss! They can have "Pipoco, the stray bullet"...
DannyelBrazil Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 I think it's time to leave this forum... This place is filling up with people that are not serious to discuss Olympics, and only want to destroy the image of Rio and Brazil. Braz, you are an idiot. It's good to know that you think it's funny that a bullet (that kills people) should be a mascot of the event that have a message of peace...
