wingspread Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 I do hope that they change the colour palette. The current one has the tendency to blend in and disappear into the landscape, especially in venues that have more greenery. Rio has the spectacular setting; now it needs colours that will pop out of the scenery yet somehow not compete with it and enhance the overall appearance of the metropolis. Thanks for posting that slideshow, Kendegra. The PanAms 2007 look is great. And I just realized this: my current bedsheets look similar to the PanAms 2007 logo/birds motif: I guess I should have seen that as a sign that Rio will win last week.
Denis-The-Dentist Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 For the 2016 logo, I want to see colours! I want to see Brazilian fauna and flora! I want to see diversity! I do NOT want to see sugarloaf and the sun, nor the Christ. A peafowl would represent both Colors and Carnaval of Rio. And the Brazilian flowers could bring freshness to the logo! I wanted to meet the person that will design this logo. He would be crazy in my presence.
Citius Altius Fortius Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 my proposal: something like a shower of confetti or streamers which is changing into a silhouette of a rainforrest with an animal It is colourful - shows emotion and something from brazil
DannyelBrazil Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 As designer, I'll draw my opinion for Rio 2016. I'll post it soon. Do you remeber those logos I made, joking, on Madrid 2020, Chicago 2020 and Tokyo 2020???
DannyelBrazil Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 By Saturady I'll show here my project for the permanent logo
Denis-The-Dentist Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 I wish I could draw. You'd be impressed by the things that are in my head.
Rob2012 Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Maybe we should have another logo competition, this time instead of picking a city each we all have to make one for Rio 2016...
Citius Altius Fortius Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Maybe we should have another logo competition, this time instead of picking a city each we all have to make one for Rio 2016... that would be fantastic - but we should wait until the 2022 Commonwealth Competiton has ended
OneTimeOnly Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 They'd be stupid not to use this: They could use that and make something similar in spirit to Mexico '68. They could add color too, like this album cover (I have this CD, great Album by the way)
Denis-The-Dentist Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Where will you guys place the competition thread? At the general olympic forum?
cslopes54 Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Mine wud have the Christ statue with an image of a kid in the middle doing the same gesture (when ppl visit the statue they take a picture like that) and around the Christ sunny colors..
Citius Altius Fortius Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Where will you guys place the competition thread? At the general olympic forum? All fantasy competition has been taken place in the GamesBid.com Events and Meetings part (in the General and Olympic Off Topic part) - at the moment a competition about the Commonwealth Games 2022 takes place - the previous one was very interesting, too: the 2020 inappropriate host olympic competition - very interesting to read!!
IceNarcissus Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 CTR is too religious to be used, and the mountains are too panoramic. I would like to see a plain and simple interpretation of the sun. Rio is known first as a beautiful beach city and its citizens practically live the sunshine year-round. Caue was a great pan-am mascot in this way.
Citius Altius Fortius Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 what do you think about this one - I did it for fun (but I am not an artist)
Feheva Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 They could add color too, like this album cover (I have this CD, great Album by the way) I like this reference too to bring some modernity through the use of colours. And BTW, indeed, this a good album...
Feheva Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 what do you think about this one - I did it for fun (but I am not an artist) I would try not to make use of too many "visual jargons" to try to comunicate what Rio has and the World doesn't know yet... Also, need to be careful about the usage of the Sugar Loaf mountains. Your idea is too similar to one of the biggest supermarket brands here in Brazil:

I'll go there later when I come back from the gym! Very interesting! So excited if the 2016 logo fantasy competition really takes place!
cslopes54 Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Could anyone plz explain me this logo.. I kno those are birds but I can't see the birds, weird figures!!!
DannyelBrazil Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Could anyone plz explain me this logo.. I kno those are birds but I can't see the birds, weird figures!!! Take the green birds as the main one (for our explanation). See that above the bird, you have the shape of Sugar Loaf montain, in the top of the bird you have the shape of Corcovado Mountain, the bottom left and the bottom right remember slightly the shape of Rio de Janeiro shore. And the rest of the curves also remember some hills in Rio de Janeiro shore... Then, they repeated the birds as the message of different people, from different cultures in Rio de Janeiro. I think this logo is more beautifull than have a clever message...

DannyelBrazil Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 Well, for me, I can see birds...
Victor Mata Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 In the comercials you could see them flying and flapping wings.
DannyelBrazil Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Hey Danny weren't u making a logo? Do you believe I slept all the weekend??? (it was holiday in Brazil)
