mr.x
Not the best picture, but it shows you the scale of it. Taken today. Before - pic by officedweller - taken today
micheal_warren
wow it is a large flag! What building is this?
mr.x
It's the Georgia Hotel (something like 80-years old), a boutique hotel being renovated, and it won't be completed in time for the Games. There's also an expansion hotel tower right next to it. Since there's construction with the building, i'm guessing they thought it would be worthwhile to hide it all during the Olympics with a big banner. SkiFreak
Is the big Expo flag still flying at the car dealership in Surrey?

4gamesandcounting
Nice idea - most host cities do this with buildings undergoing renovation, its an easy option but still ends up looking really cool! I'd prefer a big look of the games poster though...
mr.x
^ there will be at least 10 more building wrap banners for 2010, i'm sure some will be the vanoc brand.
Kenadian
I saw this last night and it was a stunner...right there on the Art Gallery plaza. I would imagine to get wrapped in the VANOC look, you'd have to have some sort of sponsorship tie? I think the developer at the hotel is a different one than the one supporting VANOC. mr.x
^ i think the Royal Towers will be wrapped since they are one of the largest sponsors.

Kenadian
I wonder what other buildings in the city will get coverings or at least decked out? Royal Centre, perhaps. I'd like to see some banners at the Library...not covered up, of course, just decked out. Would really make it pop. They can cover up the Post Office. And too bad ScotiaBank wasn't a sponsor...wouldn't mind seeing the hideous Scotia Tower getting covered up.
mr.x
^ the library is getting some smaller banners as well as special lighting. There are plans for the post office, but it's hideous:
