As a result of the major oceanic earthquakes in the Pacific Ocean, mini-tremors were felt in the Rio de Janeiro area, and the proposed 2016 Olympic sites ALL MOVED farther from the heart of the City and the IOC hotel. The Volleyball venue moved from 33 km from the Olympic Village to 43.2 km from the Village. Maracana stadium shifted from 18 km from the OV to 26km from the Village and 32km from the IOC hotel... City engineers are still trying to assess the damage, and Rio2016 workers are hurriedly moving km markers so the changes, except if viewed from satellites, will NOT be noticeable!
