Ibirapuera
All those bids were the most 'emotional ones' in their time, the most appealing and shared other similarities (like overconfidence , cities with beautiful settings, favoritism ...) Just saying.

aluz
Well, parallels can be traced in many ways, that's why the comparison doens't apply. 1996 - One of the main reasons why Athens lost was Barcelona '92, hence Madrid out because of London 2012. 2012 - Chirac came just to address the IOC Members while Blair had a longer stay and spent time lobbying. As a result, Lula should defeat Obama. - Paris was the favourite since day-one. In 2016, no city has been deemed favourite since the beginning and kept the momentum. The initial favourite was Chicago. It's not that simple. Each bid campaign is unique.

Ibirapuera
Paris... Emotional ???? No, that's why we lost.... Paris was technically & financially secure.... The worst for Paris was the fact that it peaked too early..actualy since the beginning was seen as the runaway favorite and this is always bad LMFAO. But the bid was appealing, after all Paris is Paris. Chicago at least has already experienced some bumps through the last couple of years, and this made the bid stronger. Now Chicago has the momentum.

Yes, "Paris will be always Paris", but that's not enough to become emotional to an IOC member... a few minutes before voting ! In a so close race, the final presentations would be crucial.... Rafa
Paris was doing fine until its presentation, compounded by the amazing London presentation, and Blairs hotel room antics
