memorabilia
What do you think? US money is not an issue anymore. There will still have US money from Marketing or Broadcasting even with games outside the US, but this money is not the only one nowdays, so IOC is not dependent on the USA. But, the true question is "could they vote against obama with him in the room" (even if he would have quitted it a few hours earlier).... the fact is so new and so unexpected that it will be the key point for a Chicago's victory ! baron-pierreIV
Not so much the money...altho I believe those in the "know" are aware what NBC is thinking...but the Obamas' presence together with whomever the US team brings, will definitely sway the undecideds and second round-votes one way or another!! This is not a valid point... Besides beautifull woman in Venezuela.. LOL By the way... Obama just realized that Olympic Bid of Chicago exists "yesterday" and now all this buzz about his visit to Copenhagen. I hope IOC members remember that... baron-pierreIV
We need more games and money, so we can afford to visit Rio on Holiday. Exactly. The US economy is in the dumps...so they need those Olympic jobs. We (Rio/Brazil) be putting a lot of our people to work for 2014; but we have to be generous...so we should share a little with Chicago. After all, it's not the WHOLE country, danny. It's just ONE city.

That's the true olympic spirit!Obrigado Brasil! Obrigado Brasil! I wouldn't trust this for a second. As we say in Chicago - I didn't believe you when you were my opponent and you spoke against me. And I will be careful now when you speak in support of me. There's still a race to run and 4 days to the finish line. CHItown '

Not long ago you were uber-confident of Rio winning and were bragging about it. Now you have gone all quiet and sad! Danny, no votes have been cast yet - Rio can still win! DannyelBrazil
There's still a race to run and 4 days to the finish line. I wanna believe on it... The buzz generated here probably is the same generated on IOC members... So... With Obama things got real hard for Rio... I'm honest to admit this... But, there is only final hope: Rio's presentation. I'd say 'til presentations, Chicago is now the frontrunner.
baron-pierreIV
I'd say 'til presentations, Chicago is now the frontrunner. Well, they put Chicago first in the order, so...of course. But in terms of the unofficial, uncounted support, danny, my spies in the IOC tell me "Rio is ahead."

NY20??
If Rio is not chosen it's more about World Cup than Obama. I think. For Rio, there is a bright side when looking at hosting the 2014 Wolrd Cup. There is no such thing as a bright side for them in seeing Obama in front of the IOC on Friday. If Rio looses, it'll be more about Obama's presence I'm sure. His decision to show up has gone a long way in swinging the momentum to Chicago, Brazil 2014 has had very, very little to do with it. DannyelBrazil
Jeezus!!!! Talk about defeatist. The sad thing about comments like that is it indicates a HUGE lack of confidence in the bid. Hmmmm, I showed my point. At this exact moment, today now, Chicago become the frontrunner. What could change this? Rio's presentation friday. Roltel, check all the buzz Obama made here, imagine the same for IOC member. I don't like it, because Obama just realized Chicago's bid last week and now he is THE olympian... But... It's true he can take some votes... Let's see Rio's friday presentation.
