Well let's think about Obama Factor.

First: Rio is still a stronger contender. Coz it's on rising since weeks ago. And this process is not over. ATR's final ranking...

Second: Chicago did rise in the last week. But It will be enough?

Third. I can't believe in a mass votation for Chicago just because Obama will land in Denmark with his black glasses and say: "HI europeans!!"

Oh please don't be stupid. There are a lot of things in the game.

The olympic moviment needs to spread the wings. Chooose Chicago is a very very very controversal choice. Coz USA's economy is not working well. The american government get great problems to solve. The Obama's popularity is falling down inside USA. What about Guantanamo? It is still there. What about americans troops in Iraq? The soldiers keep shooting there. The american health system is a mess ( the brazilian one is not perfect too must I say But a good model) Obama get a big trouble in his hand. One year after the election we just see the promises fading away and the reality knocking on the doors of the White House and in the door of every american citizen who voted for Obama/Biden last year. Better than Mccain/ McCain must i say.

So what Chicago can offer to the olympic moviment? Just money...or not we must not forget the crisis. No great legacy for the youth there. No new frontier. No social feedback. Rio is the new blood to the IOC's old veins.

Lula has work so hard for Rio since the city was just a Pam Am's city host. He gave his best in the race. Bush didn't make much for NYC in 2005. Obama has done almost the same for Chicago. And just because he is a president-celebrity a lot of members here think that his smile and his "cool black glasses" can make the games back to USA. Please, let's grow up.

The IOC's members have reading around the internet in the site who this race have come till today. They know what is the wisest choice for the credibility and vitality of the olympic moviment around the WORLD.

The USA is not the center of the world anymore. If you look around you will see some new superpower rising. China got the games in 2008. Russia get the games to Sochi in 2014. It's Brazil time. The IOC has much more to win gaving the games to Rio than give it to Obama's smile.

Local Media Freaks Out About Chicagoans For Rio Website Earlier today, some mainstream media outlets in town breathlessly reported on an alleged connection between the site Chicagoans For Rio and...well, Rio. Sites associated with WBBM (CBS 2 and 780 AM) - as well as the Tribune - posted a story containing the following information:

A Web site purporting to represent Chicagoans who want to see Rio de Janeiro get the 2016 Olympics has been traced to a computer in Rio and is believed to be fraudulent, according to a new report... But the Web site GamesBids.com reported that evidence from e-mails, Web forum posts, and Web server logs, indicate that the promoters for the site are actually in Rio.

"While the true identity of the individuals or group involved remains unknown, and there is no evidence to suggest a connection with the Rio bid committee, the professional and organized effort seems to be a deliberate ploy to sabotage Chicago 2016," GamesBids.com reported.

Posting speculative information circulated on the Internet? For shame (we'd never do anything like that).

In truth, the site is run by local advertising creative star Kevin Lynch who, according to (a bit too) personal info posted by a commenter in the Tribune's comments section of one of their stories on the site (a hat tip to our own commenters for pointing us that way) and confirmed elsewhere, is a Chicagoan. Caught with his hand in the cookie jar, Lynch said, "I walked from the idea where I thought this was the type of city where something like that would do really well, to questions -- it was just the process after that...The intention was not to cause an international incident." Lynch also took to his own blog to further explain the inspiration behind and reason for creating the website (including the fact that he at one point was a pro-Olympics volunteer) and it's definitely worth checking out.

Of course, it's not as if Rio isn't doing their part to whip up a good, old-fashioned Hatfields-McCoys rivalry between their city and ours. Rio Mayor Eduardo Paes - displaying a gift for the spoken word we thought only our mayor had - said about Obama's decision to travel to Copenhagen, "I'm not worried. Between Obama and Chicago-Lula-Rio, Rio will give a thrashing." Oh SNAP!

Ad Exec Takes Credit For 'Chicagoans For Rio'

CHICAGO (CBS) ― A Chicago advertising copywriter told the Tribune Monday that he is the one behind the ChicagoansForRio.com Web site, after another site speculated that the site was a fraud perpetrated by Brazilian backers of the Rio de Janeiro bid.

Kevin Lynch, 43, told the Tribune he bought the rights to the URL ChicagoansForRio.com last March, and sent links anonymously to Chicagoist and No Games Chicago.

The Web site features a single page that points out many of the reasons that some Chicagoans have come out against the Olympics.

When CBS 2 tried to contact the people behind the Web site last week, they called themselves "camera shy."

Earlier Monday, the Web site GamesBids.com reported that evidence from e-mails, Web forum posts, and Web server logs, had led them to conclude that the promoters for the site are actually in Rio.

"While the true identity of the individuals or group involved remains unknown, and there is no evidence to suggest a connection with the Rio bid committee, the professional and organized effort seems to be a deliberate ploy to sabotage Chicago 2016," GamesBids.com reported.

Lynch told the Tribune this was "erroneous."

The Web site features a video that appears to show Chicagoans giving various reasons that the 2016 Olympics will be bad for the city. Below it is a running counter for the City of Chicago's deficits, and a similar counter for Rio that shows a row of zeros as if the city had no deficit – with a footnote reading, "If you're a Chicagoan, Rio's budget deficit does not matter."

The site also highlights crime near Washington Park, the fact that many venues remaining from the 2004 Olympics in Athens sit unused, and has users match multi-billion dollar overruns with other Olympic host cities.

But also has some comments that openly disparage and mock Chicago. In a section called "Head to Head," the Web site says for "histories," Rio was a "Portuguese Empire Capital" while Chicago was a mere "rail yard." For "signature events," the Web site says Rio has "naked people dancing," while Chicago has "chubby people eating."

GamesBids.com began investigating the Web site after problems arose with some posters who were promoting it on GamesBids.com message boards.

GamesBids.com examined several posts in a topic about the Chicagoans for Rio Web site, and found out that someone posing as a Chicagoan who was against the bid was actually working from a computer in Rio.A second purported Chicagoan backing the Web site was found to be using the same computer in Rio, which led GamesBids.com to issue a terms and conditions violation notice because it meant a single person could be using more than one username to fool readers.

From this evidence and "server logs, timelines and e-mails between the group representative and GamesBids.com," GamesBids thought Chicagoans for Rio was a fraud.

GamesBids.com also said the Web site uses false information in registering its Web domain, with the name "anonymous" and the address "111 go away."

GamesBids.com also questioned whether the video showing Chicagoans who say they're backing Rio's bid is real, and pointed out that the claim that all but one of Athens' 2004 Olympic venues sit unused is not true.

But Lynch told the Tribune Chicagoans for Rio site is not connected to Brazil, and said he never wanted to cause an "international incident."

The final decision comes Friday for whether Chicago, Rio, Tokyo or Madrid will host the 2016 Games. The White House announced Monday that President Barack Obama will go to Copenhagen for the final pitch.

Rio 2032!

So 'til 2032 no tourists should come to Brazil and then we need to close the frontiers to them...

I like some of yours posts, you are fair, but some arguments are not good... This is one of them...
