sampa2016
What is your favourite city to have the 2011 XVI Pan American Games? Guadalajara (MEX), Cali (COL), or San Antonio (USA)?
baron-pierreIV
2011 will be between San Antonio and Guadalajara. Can't be Cali; 2007 will already be in South America. The PanAms alternate.
Kenadian
San Antonio. The USA hasn't hosted since 1987 and I think San Antonio would be a financial success.
MrPortuCanada
I really like the feel of San Antonio so im hoping they win the rights to host!
marcocrowgdl
I think it will be Guadalajara, since Mexico City is the only Mexican place to host, the last time in 1975. Plus you must add the "weight" of the PanAms in each country. Not all USA top athletes represent their country in the Games, while the best Mexicans do so. Still, I expect a tight race between Guadalajara and San Antonio. All other cities will have to conform with do a good effort for the next race. lrd1rocha
Mexico has already hosted twice (Mexico City 55 and 75) which is the same number of times as the US (Chicago 59 and Indianapolis 87). I am not exactly sure how anti-Americanism could eventually undermine the San Antonio bid judging by the recent OAS presidential election in which the American candidate retired from the race, and eventually the candidate least favored by the US won the election. Another thing to consider is the possible role of the Samaranch of the Americas, the President of the PASO, Mario Vasquez Raña, who supported Santo Domingo's bid over Guadalajara's a few years ago. Guardian
Can't see Columbia hosting it. Isn't it going through a "civil war" right now?
baron-pierreIV
Isn't it going through a "civil war" right now? Right now? It's an eternal civil war there. I'm surprised there's any semblance of even a functioning civil society there.
Mikel
Can't see Columbia hosting it. Isn't it going through a "civil war" right now? What is "Columbia"?? Oh, the USA has created a new country!!! :Oo:

KRATK
I would love to see Santiago hosting but... rejecting twice before, rejecting to organise the ODESUR 2006 (because we don't want to be angry with Bolivia after La Paz was disqualifed to host the Southamerican Games) and that the rotation in Pan-Ams sais "North America"... I don't think this will be possible.. Anyway... I don't have any idea of San Antonio... I think it is a third level american city... but I think them will be the winner PD: San Antonio bidded against Rio for 2007... so I don't know that the rotation is real or just coincidance in the dates. Guardian
If the "civil war" in Columbia is "eternal", then it is incredible that it even hosted the 1971 edition in Cali in the first place.
KRATK
The Colombian problem is very localizated. Bogotá and Barranquilla haven't problems as Medellín... I don't know the situation of Cali, but must of the FARC's and Paramilitars are in the jungle not in the principal cities. But, anyway this will be a problem if Colombia wants to bid. Remember when Argentina resigned to participate in Copamérica 2001.
