These Worlds also mark the first ever entry from the Philippines, a Michael Novales in the Men's category.

Too bad, no pic.  But I bet he is a Filipino-American who trains (near my parents' place) in Orange County (near Sasha COhen's hometown of Laguna Niguel).  He also trains with Sasha's coach, John Nicks.  Obviously, it was easier for him to qualify as a Philippine entry rather than thru the US.
