Wind Turbine Glistens Atop Grouse Mountain

Recommended Posts

Look up. Look way way up.

The new Wind Turbine Tower is now installed atop Grouse Mountain and it sure looked good glistening in the morning sunshine. It's painted white and you'll see it near the peak. It's easily visible from Vancouver and even the eastern suburbs. Is actually visible from Surrey but binoculars help.

Today they add the three spokes that will turn in the wind. The Turbine will generate about one quarter of Grouse Mtn.'s electrical needs.

The tower is 200 feet high and will have an elevator and observation deck. Adding the spokes will give a 300 foot overall height.

I heard it dosen't snow a whole lot in Vancouver.

When it snows in the city, it's utter chaos. Even if it's just 3 cms.

It doesn't happen too often, but we got an entire metre of it last year which is very substantial and unusual for Vancouver.

The mountains will look amazing once they are dusted with snow.

Whistler will have snow. Vancouver won't have snow during the Olympics...not in the city, but there will be now in the mountains. Well, it could get snow, but that is rare. If Vancouver gets a dump of snow, it will be in the Christmas-New Years week.
