Soaring
Yes, but Chicago does not have any specific threats. NYC and Denver seem to only have suspects, but the plots are not yet known. This may not be in connection with the Olympics as much as it is with the UN Meeting in New York, and G20 Summit that starts tomorrow.
Athensfan
Agreed. I can't imagine that this has anything to do with the Olympics either and Chicago is not targeted.
Adrian
The terrorism look for a place that the facts become more evident to world. These explain in part why the US is an obvious target. And one american city that hosts olympics become more atractive to be target. I´s an obvious conclusion!!! MrCatra
of course its possible... I just think that using 'terrorism threats' to promote another city is too much for me. it could happen anywhere... so lets just stop doing big events and declare the terrorist as the winners... FYI
The Olympics have the extreme potential of being a terrorists target no matter where they're held. That's why so much is bugeted for security for ANY bid because of this potential threat. Any of the 4-2016 candidates could become a terrorist target, including Rio. Anybody thinking/saying otherwise is naive to do so. The Olympics offer a world-wide platform for potential terrorists to announce their agenda &/or to make their statement, so it doesn't matter which city has the Games. If a particular terrorists groups are bound & determined, they will make every attempt to strike, & no city is immune to this threat. That's why security is a major, major aspect for *any* bid. baron-pierreIV
Adrian, nobody's forcing you to come to Chicago if you don't want to. If your sister doesn't like it, why doesn't she move back to Montreal?

Rob2012
Brazilian words and spellings, a local time the same as Rio and a dubious story about a sister urging you to stop her city hosting the Olympics by posting on internet message boards. baron-pierreIV
Adrian, don't make me I know your tactics...but the net effect is that you're really quite ineffective. ALl the stuff you are posting, etc., have all been tried before... We've seen them all -- even past the threat stage... - Munich 1972 - killings in the Olympic Village and airport ...yet they concluded the Games - Atlanta 1996 - 1 killing in Olympic Park....an UNGUARDED PUBLIC VENUE...yet the Games concluded as they were planned - Tokyo...Sarin attacks in the subway...culprits apprehended. Yet, Nagano hosted, Osaka andTokyo put forthe Summer bids... - London, July 2005 - bombings before (or after) the IOC vote....yet London proceeds to host 2012 - Madrid - has been the subject of many Basque terrorist acts....has that stopped Madrid from hosting or wanting tohost? The IOC, who is the ultimate arbtitrer of these things HAVE NOT banned these places from bidding. Sp yourtactics, Adrian, are really quite lame and laughable. Been there, done that. Maybe you should try your own terrorist threat to see how effective you are???

Athensfan
Adrian, we have no interest in spying into what you call "your personal life". However, your city of residence is not particularly personal information. You are pretending to be Canadian so that you seem like an objective third party when really you are from Brazil. You start multiple anti-Chicago threads. You periodically use Portuguese words to explain yourself. Then you invent outlandish excuses about quoting foreign newspapers (which doesn't even make sense in the context of the quotes in question). You aren't fooling anyone. You are welcome to your opinion, just come out with it and be honest. But don't attack us for invading your "personal life."
