When you attack people on the fact "if they have been in CT or RJ" before, you should at least tell us all....if YOU....the big defendant of Cape Town....has been there before...

Otherwise your arguments are nothing more than....NADA/NOTHING...

South Africa have to demonstrate first if they are capable to host the next Fifa Worl-Cup...and then...with the finantial debt they will have cumulated....we will see if they are able or willing to host OG's...

But returning to the origin of my post:

Defending a german candidate like Leipzig explains a lot about you...as it means defending a totally artificial bid of a 3rd-class german city.

Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, the Ruhr-Area or Stuttgart are much better german options than Leipzig

That's All....and now....please answer following question with yes or no:

- Have you been in Cape Town?

- Have you been in Rio de Janeiro?

MfG

Vorsicht Alder....Bevor Du jetzt mit "Warst Du schon in Leipzig?", fragst....Die Antwort lautet: JA !!!....

With Madrid now likely to participate in the 2016 race, Rome and Berlin also being other likely candidates and the US possibly shooting itself in the foot again with yet another reason to avoid it - could Tokyo be a runaway success already?

The IOC will almost certainly shortlist cities such as Madrid, Rome and Berlin as they meet almost all of the criteria, but being European they stand only a slim chance of being selected - this will though prevent cities such as Rio, Dehli and others from making the shortlist at all, thereby removing much of the competition for a US city and Tokyo.

So if it is a two horse race between Tokyo and New York/Chicago, I'm sure in the present political climate Tokyo would win hands down.  The US must decide how much they actually want the Olympics and then make the required legislation changes - if not they will find it difficult to win again.  Although as things stand Tokyo 2016 sounds really good but it would be a shame for New York to miss yet another chance.

You're totally right. The European cities will be shortlisted because they have all the infrastructure but they won't win because it isn't their turn, but: what about 2020? I think in 2020 Tokyo will return, and the European cities too, but, do you think Rio or Cape Town will be shortlisted?

2020 is almost impossible to predict, imagine a situation where Rome, Madrid, Paris, Berlin and either Tokyo or New York (depending upon which of them wins 2016) - it leaves no room for any new frontiers, which would be a shame - if Paris bid for 2016 along with the other European bids it may result in the US city not even making the shortlist, afterall New York didn't score too highly in the initial review of their infrastructure (though this is completely hypothetical).

I can't see the IOC increasing the number of shortlisted candidates as it takes most of the day as it is.

In your supossed situation the European cities have all to win... :grinning:

Uhmm...Paris would not be so stupid as to think it has a snowball's chance in hell for 2016 -- as other Euro cities do.  So I think you're stretching your scenarios a little too far.  The short-listing will tell where the IOC wants to go next.

Obviously the IOC will want to go to America in 2016 but: what about 2020?

Back-to-back European host cities of the Summer Olympics? Well, it is a remote possibility, but not impossible. Even though the last time this occurred was London 1948-Helsinki 1952, it is not unheard of. Now that I have mentioned it, with London 2012 at hand, who knows.

baron is right about you....

your arguments are weak, nad of very little substance...leipzig is a city ive grown to love, its a fantasy bid contest...emphasis on fantasy...the rest of you statements arent worthy of a response...i think we have found a mikel II...

"South Africa have to demonstrate first if they are capable to host the next Fifa Worl-Cup...and then...with the finantial debt they will have cumulated....we will see if they are able or willing to host OG's..."

ryan you may have competition!

If you've fallen in love with Leipzig....the only thing you demonstrate is....that you have....

1. No taste...

2. No phantasy...

And it would be a shame, to hear the name of this city together with other cities like Moscow, Budapest, Vienna, Madrid, Paris, Rome.

It is hard enought that I will have to travel to this fuckin' city called Leipzig....for the first game of Spain at the Fußball WM 2006 (as I have my card for that game)...

And regarding your doubts regarding my CapeTown-comment.

Till now, South Africa has showm absolutelly nothing. Why should I trust them more than Buenos Aires/Argentina?....

Abur...y para tí....también...ya sabes..."by the shadow"...

You have your opinion regarding Leipzig...I have mine....

And the same you like "little coffeeshops" in a mid-size city....Leipzig has the for me the same flair as a cementery.

And without using very much fantasy...Olympic Games in the "Gänsefleisch-Zone" called Leipzig, ist more a nightmare than a dream...

But you are right...This is your fantasy....

Regarding Cape Town or South Africa...nice list of mid-size events....

You're right...How could I try to compare the millions of "cricket-hooligans" from the West-Indies with the few tourist coming to the WorldCup or to OGs?....

Anyway....Let's finish here with this discussion, as it makes no sense to continue....

Rgds.

Regarding Cape Town or South Africa...nice list of mid-size events....

Rugby and Cricket World Cups are "mid-size" events? That must be a very strange measuring system you have there.

An answer with questions - hope it helps:

You want for real compare a Football-World-Cup or SOG's with that, I repeat...mid-size-events?...

Specially in Security-issues?

Do the USA or Israel (they require special security) participate at that events?...

Is Cricket a Sport known for its Hooligans?....

Of course this events are Mass-Events, but not more than a concert of for example the Rolling Stones....and you will never be able to compare them with the OG's....

It seems, that we're talking about different things......but anyway....Mo Rush will continue looking in it's pocket and searching for some event.....

If I would have known before what events some users are trying to compare with OG's or Football World Cups, I would have started a Discussion regarding the Eurovision-Song-Contest or the Chess-Tournament of Linares...  :wwww:

Sorry...but that's the "fuckin" reality....

Rgds....
