Citius Altius Fortius
A bit of nit-picking, CAF: The fireworks usually take place after the cauldron lighting. While the torch is carried through the stadium, fireworks would distract too much. Opps - that is a mistake caused by an edit-fault! I'm sure you know the situation when you type something and then you insert several points afterwards - then it can happen that you don't bring it in the right order again. Citius Altius Fortius
And I also think that Danny Boyle will rather choose the Vancouver approach, i.e. very little history and much more story-telling. I agree - I should have considered "story telling" more - by the way "story-telling" can include allusions of history, present and future, too
Mr Tickle
I want to see a segment on how British ingenuity bought the world together through communication and travel. The stamp, the railways, the jet engine etc.

Brekkie Boy
Please no talent show singers/dancers.... Though I don't fancy the chances. The BBC had big plans for a talent show rewarding the winner with a spot at the opening ceremonies. LOCOG soon put a stop to it.

baron-pierreIV
Interesting. Two sections uf the upper bowl are not being sold for the OC. Nah. It just looks like they are being rezoned for Athletics. Remember too that there will be probably TWICE the camera positions for (at least) Opening,* but that will be cut down to a little less than half for the T&F coverage. 32 were used in last 2 WOG Openings; it was like 24 for Atlanta and Sydney. I don't know how many are planned for London ceremonies and its T&F coverage.

Hmm, I hadn't noticed those two sections before. I can understand the extra cameras, but they wouldn't need to block out two large sections like that, would they? baron-pierreIV
I still can't see what 2 sections are not for sale in the OC diagram vs. they became available for T&F? I see like the rezoning of the "D" section; changing the end of the "straightway" section from "B" to "A." I don't know whether that's an increased or decreased Press section for the 2 situations. But in any case, LOCOG will not lose money in either situation.

On each end of the "ceremony" layout, there is one section in grey, than then later changes to blue for athletics. I'm assuming that's what Grenoble is talking about. Maybe it's being used for some sort of aspect of the ceremony or something?

My one theory is that those sections are set aside for last-minute "seat-fulfillment" adjustments (i.e., maybe camera placements won't even be decided until 3 or 4 months before the Games happen) but in the meantime, they "sort of" have to sell the assigned seats. So, pre-sold seats that MIGHT be displaced by camera placements + those whose view is blocked by the camera stations, might then be given those seat locations instead. That's only my guess.
