thatsnotmypuppy Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 OK - this has dragged out too long. Links below. Vote. Ekaterinburg 2028 Monaco 2028 Springfield/Shelbyville With all due respect should I just hand it to Springfield/Shelbyville :)
Lord David Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Time to throw out my trump card. Now that we're just voting and not making a book etc. Allow me to show you the would be map:
thatsnotmypuppy Posted July 1, 2009 Author Report Posted July 1, 2009 I must say I am dissappointed - why no triathlon at the new downtown Squidport? And surely cross sountry equestrian and mounting biking could be staged at the Kamp Krusty grounds considering there is considerable infrastructure in place. Wasteful!
Doc Steel Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 I love the Springfield/Shelbyville, but why no use of Duff Beer Krusty Burger Buzz Cola Costington's Department Store Kwik-E-Mart Stupid Flanders Park?
Lord David Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 ^They are not venues! They're just establishments! As for thatsnotmypuppy, there's a more valid argument, yes I could have used Camp Krusty, but I wanted a nice compact bid, Camp Krusty is over 30 km away. Mount Seldom is the smallest of the mountains surrounding Springfield. It is more than a suitable place for Mountain Biking and is nice and close to the city. As for Triathlon, why not Lake Springfield? Who says that you had to have the event in a large body of water (a coast)? Lake Springfield has more than sufficent facilities for that event. Well it's my bid and a nice compact one at that.
Doc Steel Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 ^They are not venues! They're just establishments! Say now! It looks like someone forgot a more important Simpsons episode when it comes to major venues. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Million_Dollar_Abie A recently-built venue designed for the NFL could easily be retrofitted as an Olympic Stadium.
Lord David Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 ^No it can't! Besides, that stadium could easily be the former Duff Stadium, just replaced. At any rate, it would be used for Football Preliminaries.
Doc Steel Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 ^No it can't! Besides, that stadium could easily be the former Duff Stadium, just replaced. At any rate, it would be used for Football Preliminaries. Well played, sir. By the way, that's a sharp-looking map you made. What program did you use? Adobe Illustrator?
Lord David Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 ^Adobe Illustrator? Close. I just got that fan made map of Springfield, traced it in Photoshop and added the extra stuff like Shelbyville and the venue locations.
Sir Rols Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Anybody (puppy?) prepared to declare a winner-di-doodly yet?
thatsnotmypuppy Posted July 21, 2009 Author Report Posted July 21, 2009 With a whopping majority the winner is - Ekaterinburg 2028! TODAY IS OPPOSITE DAY!!! YAY!!!! So do we do a totally fictional city one now? Coruscant? Lilliput? Moscow?
Scotguy Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 i love it, just like the competition itself being fictional made up, so is the result, nice one TNMP
thatsnotmypuppy Posted July 21, 2009 Author Report Posted July 21, 2009 Oi that's a bloody outrage it is! No correspondence will be entered into - the judges decision is final! (In other words re-enter the next comp with an upgraded bid!!)
Lord David Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Upgraded? In the next comp I'll be lodging my support for the cloud city of Bes- err no, Stratos!
