^^^ Not gonna waste time with your 'carioca' nonsense danyel ;)

By the way, if Sao Paulo is that bad for you, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE ???? Go back to your perfect Rio then.

Make one more paulista a unemployee...

My father's family is from Santos, "meu".

So I'm half paulista, but I'd rather my carioca half, "aí valeu?".

I think CHICAGO should be eliminated first.

Then Madrid.

So it's between Tokyo and Rio.

But I think Tokyo will win this one.

Technically, TOKYO will be the best for 2016 in terms of Budget, Environment, Technology, Food and venues. They are all beautiful but who is more ready? it will be TOKYO.

Tokyo if you never been there is one of the best cosmopolitan city in the world. Everything is in there from shopping, entertainment, sight seeing, outdoor. Very clean, easy access and very friendly people.

You not need to compare Beijing to Tokyo. Tokyo is way advance then Beijing. And for those people who said it will be a boring Olympics, I disagree with them. I've been to Chicago, Rio, Tokyo and Madrid. I found that Tokyo are more exciting City among the 4. I am from Canada by the way.

So YEAH, my vote will be for TOKYO.

GO TOKYO 2016

it'd be so disappointing if Tokyo wins, technically the perfect bid perhaps the most boring of all, even Madrid which has less chances than Tokyo has a better presentation nd exciting bid. x]

eeh, looks like madrid isn't getting any love :(

I really want to see them get it, since i'm half spanish and i love the city, and who knows when they'll ever bid again if they don't get it now, but if what y'all say is true, then it doesn't stand much of a chance does it? My second choice would be for chicago, since I love that city too haha. I know it would be an exciting games, and I could pretty much for sure be there for them. Also, if Rio got it i would be excited to see how it plays out, I'm sure los brasileños would put on a spectacular show to demonstrate their capabilities.

Really the only city that would make me slightly upset or lose interest for a while if it won would be tokyo. I am not moved at all by their bid, it just seems so lifeless and robotic lol. The olympics need passion, not just precision.

I just can't wait for October 2nd to get here already! :)

Madrid will have better chances in 2020 even more in 2024. My hint for 2016 is Rio or Chicago, the losing city might come back stronger in 2020. So 2024 is perfect for Madrid.

YES!!! This is Tokyo's problem. They may feel the passion, but so far they haven't gotten many of the rest of us to feel it.

LOL

you are in the 21st century

You guys never been to TOKYO and maybe you don't know how passionate japanese people are.

Did you know that Tokyo or in general Japan is the most friendly people for Tourists accroding to mercenr report?

hahah

And you know in everyday life now most people are playing WII or SONY or NINTENDO Games. This is what you call passion.

I imagine the opeing ceremonies will be hightech, ANIMES flying around like games good versus evil.

Advance technology is life passion now even the games. Look at all the new technologies in suits or sporting gadget. Like the swimming team from canada who used the japanese mizuno swimming gear. That's sports passion LOL...........

You're the exception rather than the rule Erik if you've found Tokyo 2016 to be passionate. There's been relatively little talk on here about Tokyo 2016. The bid and the bid team have not generated anywhere near as much excitement as Chicago and Rio (and to an extent Madrid) have. It's all been stangely low-key from a city which should be in a strong position to win. Athensfan is right in his observation; there seems to be technical quality but so far no real spark. Very few people seem to be talking about Tokyo's bid with the same excitement as the other bids.

Wiis and Nintendos and Playstations really have nothing to do with this. We're talking about passion for the bid, not for the city or the country or its exports. So let's not go down that road.

Whether this lack of excitement surrounding their bid matters to the IOC I don't know. They may see it as technically excellent and believe the excitement will grow over time. But that doesn't alter the fact that the Tokto bid seems so low-key to many of us here.

Welcome to the forums by the way. :)

HAHAHA

Maybe japanese people doesn't know about this site :)

Or maybe what they care is how they will improve their bid instead of looking at this site.

Fortuantely, there is Erik who is Canadian who can tell what tokyo in the perspective of what the city is all about. I teach english in tokyo and I don't want to left cause I am in love with the city so much. I lived in Rio before for 6 months, Ilike the city but I get bored after a while. I appreciate my life here in Vancouver than in RIO.

But yeah passion in sports doesn't count only by looking at this site.

MIZUNO, ARENA, ASICS, etc etc is just one of japanese contribution to sports... OH YEAH the MLB players i forgot

This site discusses nothing but Olympic bids. Every piece of news regarding bidding cities, their marketing, what they're up to, how they're perceived etc. is posted and digested on these forums. It's great that you love Tokyo and it's good to have a supporter of their bid here, but this forum fairly accurately represents international opinion on bid races, and so far Tokyo has generated least excitement here. I'm just telling it like it is, from everything I've read about this race.

Whether international opinion is reflected within the IOC is a different matter of course...they may fly in the face of it...

Yeah I agree but it's funny you guys felt that there less passion from the members of this site and not much talked about Tokyo but the ratings keeps on climbing for Tokyo (BidIndex). Moreover, TOKYO was in the top 4 considering the situation.

I guess the passion of the members here is just a little factor in the index. How many members are in here? How many people around the world? Maybe we are the ones just care about Olympics and people are just busy in their on lives.

Like here in Vancouver, olympics will be here in months but we cannot feel it. I know the enthusiam will here maybe a month before Olympics. My point is, we cannot say less passion for Tokyo because members here didn't talked much about tokyo. But In Tokyo (was there 3 weeks ago), people are way passionate on their bid. I felt like that time that Olympics is like really there because of the banners, posters and lights. Here in Vancouver, they were talking about the bid for 2016 and positively they want Tokyo or Rio to win.

My 2 cents

You don't like it because it's BORING?

What is your definition of BORING City?

Tokyo will not be in that Category LOL

Tokyo will never be a boring City whoever you talked to.

It might be hard to communicate but it will not be BORING.

SHOPPING = Top 10 in the World

FOOD = One of the Best places to Eat

SCENARY = Love the Sakura, japanese gardens and temples.

TECHNOLOGY = Oh man, I cannot say anything about it, from TV to Cars to Cellphones to animes. Maybe your TV is not SONY LOL

PEOPLE = The best and safest place for Tourist. I haven't seen a ghetto place in Tokyo.

HOTSPRINGS = man I can't wait to have it again.

FESTIVALS = Very Interesting, sumo theaters.

RED LIGHT DISTRICT = just go there and find it yourself

DRINKING = sake OISHI

Man NYC, TOKYO, PARIS, LONDON are among the best places that will be not in your definition of BORING place. LOL

My 2 cents

OK, maybe it deserves another look. Care to send me 3 first-class round trip tickets + a 10-day all-expenses paid stay at the Okura? Maybe it'll change my mind. You do know I have influence over a few votes in the IOC???

HAHAHA you are funny

Sending you ticket might change your mind? and stay at the OCURA. Maybe you find it expensive in TOKYO and that's I will agree with you but saying BORING I will not agree with you. And I don't care if you have influence with the votes, the olympic is yours if you want but telling negative to other cities is not good. Maybe your life stlye is different. Do you sing in karaoke before? Did you eat ramen or sushi before? Have you've been to disneyland before? Have you been in a hot springs? Those are maybe boring for you.

All the bidding cities has major commonalities, they are all big cities, tourist cities but the question is who is ready as a whole package? TOKYO bid I guess will be at that level of package. 4 billion dollars in bank is ready, 100 years of games legacy, infrastructure, environment, advance technology. Other people say TOKYO again, it's more of the same, helllllooo that was 50 something years ago when they had the games, I didn't even watched LOL I am 28yo and the new generation athletes will probably like to experience 21st century games. Tokyo changed so much that they became the most advance cities in the world. From technologies to environment to everything. London won 2012 because they have a good bid eventhough this is the second time having the games. RIO according to their presentation says that this might boost their economy for having the olympics but TOKYO do not need this Olympics to boost their economy. They want the games to showcase what they can do as a country, and maybe the same as other but didn'T attached about the economy. Tokyo and Japan as a whole can survived without this games.

This is just like haveing a birthday party, you want to expensive or highend restaurant or just middle end? It depends on the budget right? SO MONEYWISE, Tokyo is well prepared 4 billion is ready in the bank LOLOL.

Whoever wins I hope they deliver the best games. But I go for TOKYO first else RIO or Madrid.

GOODLUCK LOL
