Brazil 2014 World Cup...

Another Logo?

Besides the logo of the World Cup 2014, FIFA also recorded in the OHIM another image that looks much like a representation of Sugarloaf Mountain, a famous tourist spot in Brazil. Follow the image below:

On the website of the Office of Trademarks and Design Registration of European Union is also possible to see the mascot of 2011 Womans World Cup, which will be held in Germany.

DannyelBrazil can be right! What was registered can be only the concept and not the final artwork. This office is a joke. The guys can not keep any secret. Will end up taking a process by FIFA :D

This seems to be so Arabian art or something similar... I guess it's related to the Club World Cup.

The Executive Committee decided to approve the change of date for the preliminary draw of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™, which will be held six months earlier than in the past, in order to allow the confederations to begin their qualifying competitions in good time. The draw will be held in July-August 2011 with the exact date subject to confirmation.

It really seems to be SugarLoaf, but the colors are a little bit non-Brazilian.

Anyway, I'm not sure about that weird "hands and trophy" childish drawing be the final artwork for the logo.

Indeed, after all the jokes made in Internet about it, specially the Chico Xavier's one.

The acceptance from Brazilian people was very very low.

Maybe the design office is "planting" fake logos to make media and us confused...

Sugarloaf Mountain? And then also, where is the Christ on it?

Christ is not placed in Sugar Loaf, Baron, but in Mt. Corcovado.

São Paulo gives up about the opening game in World Cup 2014

http://esportes.terr...2014/noticias/0,,OI4480761-EI10545,00-Sao+Paulo+desiste+de+projeto+para+Morumbi+ser+abertura+em+diz+jornal.html

Sao Paulo soccer team and State govt. are not interested on spending R$ 640 mn to make the complete all the refurbshment FIFA wants.

A minor project will be done and Sao Paulo probably will play a seconday role in this World Cup.

There are some journalists saying that Rio should host both opening and final matches.

I prefer Brasilia OM and Rio FM...

No no no!!! Belo Horizonte for the opening match! =] its a better project =p

I also think so. But Brasilia has a better chance, considering the general city infrastructure.

In the end, Sao Paulo may not get the opening game. As a paulista, I think that the local commitee is too worried about getting the opening game, what in my opinion is the less important thing to care about now.

Considering that the option of building a new stadium in the city is totally rejected by all government´s levels (which in my opinion is a wise decision), they must think first in a financially and less bureaucratic viable project for Morumbi, then they must think about the city infrastructure (specially transportation, airports and services), and only then think about bidding for the opening game. It seems that they are finally placing their feet on the ground.

Actually, two venues are undefined. Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre may have other stadiums in place of the previously indicated.

Today, the opening match is closer than ever to Rio. Brasilia and BH won't meet FIFA infrastructure requirements. Besides, with the current political scandal, Brasilia is a tough choice.

It will be in Rio unless SP comes up with a new stadium.

Sorry, the World Cup is the biggest spot Sao Paulo can use to be more known abroad. You, paulistas, are losing a lifetime chance to make Sao Paulo a famous city worldwidely. It'd 4 years of reports in the media about the city.

If SP play a secondary role in the World Cup, probably, the city will keep its "almost-famous" status as world city.

It's funny to see the so-called richest state of Brazil, the home of private rich companies, thinking about save R$ 200 mn. C'mon, for SP is not too much money, isn't it?

was this posted before?

i would love this logo

I love it! But me thinks its a fake because the typography for the "2014" was used in mock ups for stadiums profiles someone posted on here last year.

speaking about the opening match. "brasiliaand bh wont meet requiremnts". i think bh has great chances, it has a stadium and lots of space, while morumbi is undecisive and brasiia has to built a huge stadium. opinions will vary.

hey would be able to tell me when will it be announced? i thought it was jsut after 2010s WC but i read somewhere theyll be sayin in 2011?????

I tottally disagree.

I notice some sarcasm in your comment, but I won´t follow this narrow-minded local-small-city attitute to discuss this.

First, no matter what happens in the World Cup, Sao Paulo is and will always be the financial and economic center of Brazil. As a business center, it´s importance in global showcase will grow as much as the brazilian economy keeps growing. Among businessmen the status of the city nationwide and worldwide is very clear and that´s enough for it. No need to call for attention.

Second, it´s not a matter of money, it´s a matter of politics. Morumbi isn´t a public stadium. SPFC doesn´t have the money to do all the upgrades required in order to get the opening game and neither CBF nor FIFA will help. The amount of money necessary is so high for the club that even public credit is hard to get, the club simply can´t match the guarantees required by public banks. Government will not invest public money in a private property.

If it will be dangerous to the club to assume such huge burden, then it´s better forget the opening game and not hurting its finances too much. Curitiba and Porto Alegre are facing similar problems.

With no political will to help the club, then leave public money to be used on the city needs. It is way more important getting the new metro lines and airports upgrades ready than getting the opening game. After all, the city is the front door of the country isn´t it ?

I can do it too... Not only the paulistas here.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sao Paulo is the financial center and business center but it's still a unknown city abroad.

Last week we receive a group of americans and brits here where I work and they, as always happens, were surprised about the city - "wow, it's big, I never noticed that there was other big city in Brazil after Rio"

Really? I think Sao Paulo must be more famous since its the financial bla bla bla of Brazil. But, actually, it's a chance being lost to do it so.

About the politics and money, I full agree with you, Rogerio.

Stadium is not everything. BH has only 2 five stars hotels. That means 1 for each squad. But where are the officials, the invitees of the sponsors and the high-profile tourists going to sleep? There is no way that BH will host an opening match. They are biding for the opening to secure a semifinal.

here we go again..... Why do you always bore people with this stupid city x city issue ? I´m paulista and I never was sarcastic here.

A small group doesn´t mean anything.

If the city so unknown as you said, then explain me why 916.000 international passangers arrived at Sao Paulo in January, while in the sooooo famous Rio only 288.210 arrived (I know you won´t believe me, but that´s official Infraero statistics). Qatar Airways, as Emirates did last year, just started to operate flights from the Middle East to Brazil and guess which city did they choose to land their aircrafts ??? As I said, for businessmen and decision makers the city has a clear status and that´s enough. http://www.infraero.gov.br/upload/arquivos/movi/mov_operac._0110.pdf

Now let´s forget these bairrista feelings and concentrate on the issue of this topic ?

It would be great to host the opening game, but considering the actual political situation of Morumbi and after what I´ve saw on TV about South Africa, it would be much better for Sao Paulo to host the opening music concert. It was amazing what they did in Soweto yesterday and ir makes me imagine how this concert would be in Brazil, as specialists in big parties like we are.

That´s the point. Brasilia has many hotels and its airport is already used to recieve some international flights. As for logistic reasons, Brasilia is in a better position. The capital status of the city is something to be considered too. And there´s always an option to Rio hosting it too.

I personally think that´s something emotional about giving it to Brasilia.

WHATS money for? more likely to build more hotels no? a 70,000+ seats stadium will cost brasilia half billion R$ to build, im sure BH is good where it stands and doign the right thing, theyve got their major venue built, and yes thats a great advantage. Brasilia is delayed and we hardly hear from it,BH is one of the few ahead. but i respect ur opinion. I just feel BH has been put down bc ppl think one city is better than another, since its always been SP RIO and BH, the top metropolis of brazil and the most soccer traditional.

Airport Domestic market of Sao Paulo is bigger than any other in Southern Hemisphere, indeed, adding to this deal, Sao Paulo became the main International hub for many South American countries, specially Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia.

About International VISITORS (very different than simple passengers), check official records and you will discover that RIO RECEIVES 60% OF THEM! It's the main destination for tourism in the Southern Hemisphere.

About how SP is famous:

Ask anyone here to talk about the famous Sao Paulo city, its monuments, landscapes, postcards, to name a Sao Paulo district, anything... Give yourself a try.

And my comment was not fueled by bairrista sentiment. Unfortunatelly, SP is unknown abroad. And the WC CAN improve the marketing for the city, or you think the opposite, Rogério?

Admit it, Dannyel, your comment IS fueled by bairrismo sentiments. You even didn´t understand what I wrote. All I stated here was about BUSINESS tourism, not LEISURE tourism. And you know that there´s a BIG difference between business and leisure travellers. Sao Paulo is not known for leisure tourism, but no one can deny its economic importance and financial superiority over Rio. Official numbers speak by themselves. Period.

I won´t keep this discussion because it´s soooo annoying and the others members here doesn´t deserve it. Enough!

Yes, it can, Dannyel. But if the club and the commitee can´t get the political help necessary to at least bid for the Opening Game, then what should they do? Cry out loud ?

No. The commitee must work with the reality: if we can´t do our best with the stadium, let´s do our best with the city and the visitors. Keeping all the urban projects related to the World Cup in progress. Ease the acess to the stadium. Get the better possible logistics for Tv crews, teams and visitors. Offer promotions. Plan other kinds of events related to the Cup. This would be the wiser approach, helping the marketing of the city.

I don´t believe that SP will be excluded from the Cup, but even if it happens, its airport still will be highly demanded. It´s important to keep all the related projects running, because not only the World Cup depends on them but the life of millions of people too.

And we are forgetting the fact that Morumbi is listed as one of the stadiums for the 2016 olympic soccer competition. So there´s no excuse. The club and commitee must keep working.
