I don't think than Toulouse will have a bid for winter game, because it's not credible in france for Olympic winter games, it's too far from Pyrénée.

Nice or Gap are more credible for a future bid.

Really? Toulouse is no farther from the Pyrenees than Munich is to the Alps, or Vancouver to Whistler.

I don't know exactly the distance but toulouse it's not credible for winter game in France, because Toulouse never will be

considere like Moutain city and Toulouse don't have, Alpin culture or moutains culture.

December 21 - Havas Sports & Entertainment, the second largest advertising group in France, has won the marketing and communications contract to promote Annecy's bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics, it has been announced.

The Havas network will now play a pivotal role in communicating and implementing the ideas behind France's Olympic bid as it battles against rival cities Munich, the German city which is bidding to become the first in the world to host both the Summer and Winter Games, and South Korea's Pyeongchang, who are bidding for the third consecutive time.

Ouf !

They finally decided to move the Media Center from La Roche Foron to the Annecy metropolitan area.

Other change is Freestyle Skiing, now in Megève, close to Snowbaording venue (it was in La Clusaz before, with the nordic sports).

Other good news is the Curling, instead of Women Hockey, in Megeve ... That certainly means that they will use Megeve existing Arena (2 700 people capacity) more suitabke for Curling

I'm asking a question anyway:

For the Olympics, they plan to build an arena for the Short-Track and figure Skating in Annecy.

For the Paralympics, thet plan to hold both the hockey and curling Annecy ... But there is only the Skating Arena in Annecy that can accommodate these events. So the question is: Are they planning to build a rink specially for the Paralympic Curling? Is there an existing site in Annecy, which has enough capacity for Paralympic curling?

I suppose they will use the actual Annecy's Ice Rink for the Paralympics' curling events.

The Jean Regis Ice rink has a capacity of 3500 spectators.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

ANNECY, APRIL 23RD, 2010

GOVERNMENT SUPPORT

Nicolas Sarkozy supports Annecy 2018

The French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, was on an official visit in the Savoy region

on April 22nd, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Savoy area becoming

French.

On this historic occasion, the President announced that the French government will

do everything possible to help Annecy host the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic

Games.

“The government will do everything possible, you can be sure, so that Annecy,

applicant for the 2018 Winter Olympics, will be chosen” confirmed Mr. Sarkozy

during an official speech given at the commemorative ceremony in the castle of the

Dukes of Savoy before a crowd of several thousand.

“Annecy’s victory will be the victory of the entire nation, standing behind you”, he

concluded.

Edgar Grospiron, CEO of Annecy 2018 and former Olympic champion, was present

for the ceremony. “We are proud that the French chief of state is clearly backing

Annecy 2018,” he said, “and we are particularly moved that he made his

announcement on the occasion of such a historic event for France”.

President Sarkozy had previously shown his support in a letter dated March 5th to

Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee.

I hope Annecy's bid to host the Olympic Winter Games in 2018 would be a successful, despite having the lowest index in GamesBids.com and AroundtheRings.com. After all, for me, the landscape or backdrop of the French Alps, which include Mt. Blanc, and the unwavering support of the citizens of Annecy and the whole nation of France are the most apparent assets for the bid.

The Alpine landscape used to be a famous scenery for an Olympic Games event. Note the previous Olympic Winter Games events that France held: Chamonix (somewhat the westernmost commune of the Rhône-Alpes region) in 1924, Grenoble (French city located at the foot of the French Alps) in 1968, and Albertville (northwest of the Rhône-Alpes region) in 1992.

The support of the population of Annecy (81%) is higher than that of the population of Munich (by approximately 5%) and of PyeongChang (by exactly .3%).
