NYCD 2012 Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Read it: "United States Olympic Committee (USOC) chairman Peter Ueberroth said no American city will bid for the 2016 Olympic Games." Actually, what he said is: “I’m not saying we won’t bid. I’m saying we want to be very careful, understand it all before we start spending money and getting enthusiastic and competing against each other. We have to be smart”.Several U.S. cities have expressed an interest in bidding for the 2016 Summer Games. The International Olympic Committee will make its decision in 2009. “We want to bid”, said Ueberroth. Yeah , so back to Rio , and sex with those sexy bikini mamas on the beach , Sampa2016 P.S , Plz don't this on beach , do it ur home , we do want you Brazil a bad name
micheal_warren Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 i personally think that the 2016 games will go to the americas, either the USA or South America (Maybe Brazil)
IceNarcissus Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Without the US, Los Angeles 1984, and the many perks and boons of advertising and endorsement money that comes from the US, the games would have fizzled out of existance after Moscow. First mass boycotts, and then the games not even happening? (if LA didn't bid) What would be the chances of Seoul putting on a successful games and Barcelona even HAVING them after a crash and burn like that?
Suit U Sir !!! Posted December 1, 2005 Author Report Posted December 1, 2005 This topic has 2 aspects to it. Firstly, it was thanx to the LA 1984 olympics, that the summer olympics are what they are today- a huge glittering prize, with huge economic benefits. The LA games is the reason the SOG became commercialised, and so many conuntries want them nowadays. As a result, a bid from the USA will always be taken seriously by the IOC and the USA can expect to host a summer olympic every 20-30 years with cities like NYC, Chicago, San Francisco. It is thanx to the USA and the city of Los Angeles that the summer games are what they are today. The 1996 games of Atlanta were heavily criticised by the international media. But this has not decreased the chances of the USA hosting SOG's period- the repercussions of Atlanta are simply that more 2nd/ 3rd tier US cities like Portland, Nashville, kansas city etc have little chance of being selected by the IOC, thanx to Atlanta. However, the 1st tier US cities like NYC, Chicago do still have an excellent chance of winning SOG bids.
LA84 Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Doesnt't care where......But.....NO MORE OLYMPIC GAMES IN THE U.S.A. NUNCA MÁS Regards :wwww: That is true! LA 1984 and Atlanta 1996 was the worst games of the history. USA can't support this kind of thing... Now is South America Time! Let's go SP 2016! Well I have heard that the South American educational system is subpar at best. Now I see that it is true. Read it: "United States Olympic Committee (USOC) chairman Peter Ueberroth said no American city will bid for the 2016 Olympic Games." PS: You don't know anything about my beautiful country... Please learn to read an entire statement before you respond. I makes you look silly. P.S. I know about as much about your country as you do my beautiful country. And from what I know, I am not impressed. :glare:
baron-pierreIV Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Unfortunately, our newcomer, Mr. Sampa tends to communicate in 2 or 3 soundbytes, like his illustrious colleagues - mikel and arwebb. It's OK to be brief -- (come to think of it, am glad these tres amigos locos are brief) -- but at least make a point -- and at that correctly. Sampa, you're not dealing with raw recruits here -- well, except for mikel, for prides himself in being young - yeah, young and fresh as a gaping wound. So if I were you, Sampa, I would rather dumb up, rather than down. :suspect:

MXO Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 ok, dont ge me wrong but 1996 olympics in Atalnta sucked. i think the us should not get the olympics for a wild. i think the next host city will come to a city in the debeloping countrys, my guess would be: Monterrey (Mèxico) they won the forum 2007 by far and it is the richest city in the country, they also have the places to do it alredy built and there is strong rumors about them trying to get it. some city in Southafrica ( the got the fifa world cup for 2010, dont they?) Rio or Sao Pablo (Brazil) they`ve wanted it for years and now they can do it!! Santiago (Chile) Toronto, i mean, wy did Atlanta won over Toronto?wy did Atlanta made it to the short list!!!! for sure an American city and some midle east that would't make it to the short list. the short list would includ ein these case Mèxico, Brazil, Canada, Southafrica. the firs eliminated would be Brazil.after that probably Mèxico. and i think toronto wouldnt get it since they have the WO in Vancouver in 2010, so i guess it will go to Southafrica. Mèxico would be relly cool, wouldn`t it? sorry about the spelling.
Guardian Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 Welcome to these forums, MXO. First of all, Atlanta 1996 was not that bad overall. Sure, there were lots of "silly scenarios" that came with trying to prepare and operate those Games. However, some of things that went wrong were mostly out of their control. It was not like ACOG wanted to make themselves the laughing stock of the Olympic world. They tried their best to make those Games successful as best it is able. For Mexico wanting to bid for another Olympic Games, why not? Some members here may have objections over it, but it shouldn't stop the Mexican NOC to determine whether it wants to do it or not. That goes with those South American countries, too. As for Toronto from your post, some of us said that the city lost then was because in part of the demonstrations made by anti-poverty groups. Some of us said also that it was too close to Calgary 1988, even though I think that was baloney. If anything, if Canada is going to be able to host another Summer Olympics, then Toronto is the most logical city to do so. It will take time to convince the IOC of that. As for the 2016 race, it is basically the "clash of the Americas" to me. I say that is because of the last "Americas" Summer Olympics was Atlanta 1996. Who knows, it could come to South America for the first time. It is only a matter on which cities will be accepted by the IOC as "applicant cities" first.
MXO Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 ok, i think i agree with most of it, i think Atlanta showed us how small and medium cities r not able to host. i dont think Mèxico can do it i just go by the rumors, and i would love to see the games in the third world, i mean it is more than half the world!!! and it represents a great economic and social oportunity to the host city, just look at Barcelona!!! or montreal!!! it is an oportunity for the international community to relly help.

Suit U Sir !!! Posted December 12, 2005 Author Report Posted December 12, 2005 My prediction: Bids submitted from: NYC/ Chicago Tokyo New Delhi Bangkok Rome Madrid Hamburg Budapest Moscow Cape Town Rio De Janiero Dubai Short list: NYC/ Chicago Tokyo Rome Madrid Cape Town Dubai Even though Moscow made 2012 short list, I don't think it will be shortlisted this time round. I think Dubai would be shortlisted rather than Rio, but Rio could be included in the short list to give encouragement to new frontiers, like Buenos Aires was shortlisted for 2004.
