thatsnotmypuppy Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Obviously these are summer photos. Harbin has its ugly side. The mountains are about 120km away - not unlike Whistler is to Vancouver.
Sir Rols Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I was amazed to see a documentary on Harbin last night on TV following Russian emigres who were forced out in the late 1940s-50s returning to their city of birth. Fascinating. What they showed made it look more like a little Moscow than somewhere in China.
thatsnotmypuppy Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 It is very European in layout and yes - there are thousands of Russians living there. Not a bad place really - but I prefer Beijing
LiuTian Posted September 25, 2009 Author Report Posted September 25, 2009 Harbin's disadvantage is in snow sport. Yabuli is a bit far from the city. At Maoershan, a venue for snowboarding and biathlon has been built almost from scratch. Harbin was built by Russian.
Xu Wen-Ting Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 lets wait and see, If Tokyo lose the 2016~ Harbin do bid 2018 WOG
LiuTian Posted October 9, 2009 Author Report Posted October 9, 2009 This pic seems like the celebration of Harbin winning 2018 bid. (Just for fun) These days are China's National Holidays. So you could see many flags.
LiuTian Posted October 9, 2009 Author Report Posted October 9, 2009 Any word on 2018 yet?? We are still waiting.... After a 8-day-long National Holidays (1st-8th Oct.) the China's sports ministry just begins to work today. I guess they'll make a conference these two days. We'll know the result this week. Hope Harbin will bid 2018. I pray ...
