This is nuts on this venue to be dismantled after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar next year.

Not surprising.  It was pre-planned that way.  What else will you do with an 8th stadium in a country of only 2.6 million?    Or they could turn into a little town for Afghan refugees . . .  at great expense.

It's not gonna be easy for the national teams to travel on the way to Qatar as we have 13 nations have already qualified to the FIFA World Cup are:

Qatar (Host)

Germany

Denmark

Brazil

France

Belgium

Croatia

Spain

Serbia

England

Switzerland

Netherlands

and

Argentina.

January next month will see more teams to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup before the 2026 edition in Canada, Mexico and USA.

So besides the one stadium that's a guaranteed tear down, what's happening with the rest? Are we going to see half the QSL get fancy new stadiums?

Most if not all will become white elephants. Initially Qtar said all except the renovated Khalifa Stadium would be fitted with temporary seating that would be removed and donated to countries lacking in football stadia infrastructure, but that was a pipe dream just like holding the WC in the summer with air conditioned stadiums.

If nothing else, this tournament puts to bed the often proposed concept of a temporary stadium to solve the athletics stadium issue in the Summer Olympics. It's a proven failed concept.

I suppose if anyone got dibs on them then, as I said, it would probably be the qsl teams, whichever ones have older stadiums or perhaps to make them to share them all... Would be better than them just sitting empty, unless Qatar thinks that they can retrofit some of them for a future Olympic bid.
