This is nuts on this venue to be dismantled after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar next year.

Not surprising.  It was pre-planned that way.  What else will you do with an 8th stadium in a country of only 2.6 million?    Or they could turn into a little town for Afghan refugees . . .  at great expense.

It's not gonna be easy for the national teams to travel on the way to Qatar as we have 13 nations have already qualified to the FIFA World Cup are:

Qatar (Host)

Germany

Denmark

Brazil

France

Belgium

Croatia

Spain

Serbia

England

Switzerland

Netherlands

and

Argentina.

January next month will see more teams to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup before the 2026 edition in Canada, Mexico and USA.

Another look at one of the stadiums - this one resembling a giant tent with a drive-up ramp like you see at airport terminal departures

So besides the one stadium that's a guaranteed tear down, what's happening with the rest? Are we going to see half the QSL get fancy new stadiums?

Most if not all will become white elephants. Initially Qtar said all except the renovated Khalifa Stadium would be fitted with temporary seating that would be removed and donated to countries lacking in football stadia infrastructure, but that was a pipe dream just like holding the WC in the summer with air conditioned stadiums.

If nothing else, this tournament puts to bed the often proposed concept of a temporary stadium to solve the athletics stadium issue in the Summer Olympics. It's a proven failed concept.

I suppose if anyone got dibs on them then, as I said, it would probably be the qsl teams, whichever ones have older stadiums or perhaps to make them to share them all... Would be better than them just sitting empty, unless Qatar thinks that they can retrofit some of them for a future Olympic bid.

FIFA 2022 world cup third round fixtures: Ghana vs Nigeria, Senegal vs Egypt - See di oda teams wey go face each from Africa - BBC News Pidgin

Here's the final round of African Qualifiers. It's going to be kind of like a play-off round. Only 5 will make it to Qatar 2022. My Prediction for the African representatives: Cameroon, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria and Senegal. Mali could possibly make their FIFA World Cup debut if they beat Tunisia.

I'd be shocked if this actually happens.

And i would not. This wouldnt be the first time FIFA made a country change their laws so they can have their booze in the arenas. (Brazil 2014 coming to mind here)

Big difference though between Qatar and Brazil. Brazil doesn't have culturally conservative Muslim sheikhs watching over all aspects of society. Brazil's decision to not have alcohol initially was over safety concerns. Qatar's issues relate to conservative Islam. I've lived in the Gulf and many will tell you that Qatar is far more conservative than the likes of the UAE, Bahrain, or Oman. So no, I don't think FIFA will be able to make Qatar change their laws. The clerics have too much influence.

That´s true... Wonder how much cultural shock, for all the good and bad reasons, will play out in this world cup.

Is there not gonna be a mascot for Qatar 2022?

Likely we could see that mascot before the final draw.

Yea, I've seen that mentioned before. Saudi Arabia being the only Arab country more conservative then Qatar. I'd never travel there.

Yes Brazil had hosted the 2014 edition. Qatar hasn't done that before and will be the first time the country hosted. That's a difference between the two countries with their heritage from both South America and Asia. Also guys, Final draw is tomorrow.
