Your Vancouver Cosport Order..

Recommended Posts

Baron gave me an idea and there does appear to be a number of European style holiday apartments in and around the city. Some ranging from 500 dollars a night to less than a 100.

I might spend the 3 or 4 days I have between when my tickets are done and when I need to be home to go to Seattle and Portland.

So I got a hospitality package. I feel that it's a bit of a gyp, but I wanted to A) be absolutely sure I'd get the tickets I wanted, and B) go on and get lodging because it's easier for them to arrange the lodging than for me to try to get it on my own in my current personal life situation (too much going on - too hectic). The exciting part is that you can lock in exactly the tickets you want... I have tickets for Ice Dancing, both the Original and Free Dances, and tickets to the Women's Figure Skating Short Program. My plan is to just take in the sights on the other days, and also possibly try to pick up tickets for the Victory Ceremony the night of the Ice Dancing Final. I also actually felt like getting the skating tickets via hospitality package was a better deal than getting them via lottery... as compared to other events. If I had more cash than I do, I would have tried for some speed skating as well. Part of the problem is that I'll be taking a small child with me, a 14 month old (who's not born yet!!) and I do not think that the outdoor events would be at ALL reasonable, though I'd love to see Luge & Bobsled.

So you got the tickets and accommodations package, but not the full hospitality package that includes the transportation and meals, correct?

Maybe its my maths but 100% markup would be $1200 (double). 900 is half way, in my book thats a 50% markup

300/600 = 0.5 thats 50% isn't it?

I am taking about the majority of tickets

There is higher and lower markets but the general number is 25%

You don't understand what "markup" means. A "markup" is based on the original price of an item. For instance. If an item costs $10.00 wholesale and the store you bought it at charged you $12.50, the markup is 25%. If the store charged you $15.00, it's 50%, and if the store charged you $20.00, that's a 100% markup.

Here's an example of Cosports markup

Mens Ice Hockey VANOC $622 US Dollars, CoSport Price $930. Cosport Markup 50% ! How can this be allowed?

Well, it is a FREE CHOICE. At least they reveal the breakdown. If you think it is a rip-off; then (1) maybe ask somebody in Canada to buy some tickets for you; (2) don't buy now and chance it at the box-office; or (3) watch it for free on TV. These are premium events which happen but once -- and either you play the tune or not. No one is forcing anyone to buy those tickets.

You seem to specialise in stating the obvious. Of course I could watch it on TV. And I would buy them in Canada if I knew anyone there.

I think its perfectly reasonable to point out there is a 50% markup on a Cosport ticket.

That's correct. The package I have includes breakfast at the hotel and nothing else, and you have to use public transportation (which I have no problem with). I just wanted to make sure I had a hotel room... and got the exact tickets I wanted. But now it seems like the hotel room thing isn't really a problem?

I'm debating returning the package and just requesting tickets, but I do still really like the fact that the hospitality package locks in the tickets I want.

Thoughts?

Well today is the last day.

Canadians have to prepare for their credit cards to get a serious workout over November as the lottery will be progressive and as soon as your name is drawn your credit card is billed instead of one billing at the end. If you are SOL for a lot of your order you will get notified before others.

Hope everyone gets what they want.
