Your Vancouver Cosport Order..

Recommended Posts

So the VAN2010 Cosport site has gone live - and I have no idea if my order went through as no confirmation email has arrived yet. Nonetheless I have requested -

ZO001 Opening Ceremony

2/12/2010 : 18:00-21:00

BC Place

ST001 Short Track Speed Skating

2/13/2010 : 17:00-19:45

Pacific Coliseum

SS001 Speed Skating

2/13/2010 : 12:00-14:45

Richmond Olympic Oval

LG002 Luge

2/14/2010 : 15:00-19:00

Whistler Sliding Centre

SB001 Snowboard

2/15/2010 : 10:30-14:45

Cypress Mountain

CU001 Curling

2/16/2010 : 09:00-12:00

Vancouver Olympic Centre

2/16/2010 : 16:30-19:00

Canada Hockey Place

ST002 Short Track Speed Skating

2/17/2010 : 17:00-19:15

Pacific Coliseum

BT004 Biathlon

2/18/2010 : 10:00-15:00

Whistler Olympic Park

SN001 Skeleton

2/18/2010 : 16:00-20:30

Whistler Sliding Centre

FR003 Freestyle Skiing

2/20/2010 : 10:00-11:30

Cypress Mountain

FR004 Freestyle Skiing

2/21/2010 : 09:15-13:30

Cypress Mountain

I've tried to limit myself to one session a day unless I am in Whistler - in which case I'm trying to cram in a couple of events as I only want to make that trip once or twice. I ummed and ahhed about Figure Skating - but there is no way I can justify spending A$600+ for two hours of mincing on ice. Even the 'cheap seats' are over A$450. No way that is worth it. To be honest Ice Hockey bores me senseless as well - so I went for a big old batch of diversity events wise. I'll massage some contacts for whatever else I need - or find some despotic regime (hello China!) to give me accreditation.

Yay world!

So what is everyone else applying for?

Pups I guess if we get lucky we will be seeing each other at ST001, ST002 and BT004.

I requested

Feb 13 - AS001 - Men's Downhill (probably won't get this one), alternative Men's Ski Jumping SJ002

Feb 13 - ST001 - Short Track, alternative Women's moguls FR001

Feb 14 - SS002 - Women's 3000m (definately won't get this one), alternative Men's 10km Biathlon BT002

Feb 14 - FR002 - Men's Moguls

Feb 15 - SS003 - Men's 500m (won't get this one either), alternative SB001 - men's cross

Feb 16 - AS003 - Men's Super Combined

Feb 17 - SS005 - Men's 1000m (meh), alternative CC002 Women's and Men's Sprints

Feb 17 - ST002 - Short Track, alternative men's hockey IH016

Feb 18 - BT004 - Men's and Women's 20km and 15km

And I just realized I focked up my order.

My order was 1135 maximum, if I was american it would be 1534.62, European 1446.78 and Australian 1441.64. All in CND.

I think my order is just over A$2,600 - of course half of that is the Opening Ceremony ticket. There were no Victory Ceremony tickets available either in the first phase.

To be honest though the main events I want to see are the short track and ski-cross. Frankly I'd prefer to just stay on Cypress Mountain for the majority of the Games! Everything else is a bit of a "meh" kind of deal. Once you've been to a few Winter Olympics its hard to get really excited about another. However Vancouver will put on a modern and exciting show I am sure.

Oh I just noticed - you're not even going to try for a ceremony ticket?

I don't really find the Winter Olympic Games as interesting or as exciting as the The Games of the Olympiad. Plus, there's no swimming :P:lol:

If I did I would just sell it/trade it. I have no interest in going to the Vancouver Opening Ceremony.

I want to see Denny Morrison, Clara Hughes, Cindy Klassen, Axel Lund-Svindal and Ole Einar Bjorndalen. So I requested accordingly.

I want to go to the men's downhill, my Olympics will be a disaster if I don't get a ticket for that event, that is my #1 absolute must have. I also want to see at least 1 short track, 1 speed skating and 1 moguls.

I meant to request a 10th ticket but I guess it didn't work, oh well the addition period should solve that.

How successful do you think I will be?

I went on and registered. Still haven't decided if I want to go or not. But in the registration it asks where you found out about CoSport - ATR was a choice but Gamesbids wasn't? <_<

I thought you had decided to come already LA

I have pretty much - I am only hesitating because that year is also my parents 50th wedding anniversay and my sister and I promised to take them to Hawaii or go on an Alaskan Cruise.

Plus, if I get the tickets now I will get charged this December right when Christmas and property taxes are due.

Yea true its the good and bad thing of getting the ticketing done so early.

Hopefully you find a way to get to Vancouver, it will probably be a highly attended games for GBers.

It would be great - I would love to meet you and Kendegra and even Mr. X - if he can get out of Jr. High home room to do so. ;) (j/k)

Check your PM.

Like Puppy, my tentative ticket order hovers around $2500 U.S. I am not going to Whistler if I go. I would like to but sitting on a bus on a mountain roadway for 2 hours without a ciggy and a beverage is not my idea of a good time.

I'm going but I still have to get in touch w/ this nephew who supposedly migrated to Vancouver over a year ago. Will have to call his sister tomorrow.

God, this is such deja vu. It was like October 1983 (so 25 years ago) when I first held the first ticket order form for an Olympics (for LA-1984) and I was shocked that they would hold on to my money for like 7 months before I got my tix!! Of course now, it's like 15 months out! Who knew I would be sucked into this inexorable abyss??

Of course, I will need a back-up place to stay in VAN -- so Mr. X? Will only order Opening Ceremony. Would GB'ders like to get a 2-bdrm apt for the duration of the Games -- and we can parcel that out?

When are u guys making your plane reservtions?

I am booking my flight any time after December 5th, I am more than likely going to be flying out of the United States because Canadian air competition is crap, with only West Jet and Air Canada it is honestly just as expensive to fly from Paris, Madrid or Berlin.

I wonder if any of our German and Norwegian members will make the trip over.

Whistler is going to be a hassle but for me entirely worth it. I love how the snow events aren't as spread out as they were in Torino, so it makes it easier. I could actually be going up to Whistler as many as 5 times for morning sessions. And even if I get all by first choices, its still 3 times.

What is the price difference? Do you plan on flying out of Buffalo instead of Toronto?

Keep me posted on this Faster since we would be leaving for Vancouver from the same area.

Hi! I am an American from Maryland looking for a Canadian resident willing to purchase Olympic tickets for me. I am the hugest figure skating fan!!!! Tried to get skating tics for Salt Lake and did not get any in the lottery. The games were in my home country, and I still did not get any. I am doubtful I will get any going through the loops us Americans have to go through with CoSport. I would be very grateful for someone to help me out. I am willing to pay you through paypal directly.

YEAY!!! Got the confirmation for my tix order!!

The other alternative -- as my plan B -- if flights directly into Vancouver were really expensive and tight -- was to fly into SEATAC (Seattle) and just take a bus/ferry from there.

I plan on getting to Vancouver via Japan. There are direct flights on Air Canada from Australia but I'd imagine those will be full - not from Australians heading to Vancouver (there is minimal interest in the Winter Games down here beyond watching it on TV) but due to all the Canadians in Australia heading home!

Otherwise QANTAS to San Fran then a connection. However Tokyo direct or via Hong Kong appeals more.

I wont book until late 2009 as I'll wait until I know what (if any) tickets I get allocated and if I can get decent accommodation.

During the live sale I imagine I'll be after moguls and more snowboarding tickets - thus maybe staying close or at Cypress Mountain is an option as I will spend most time there I guess. I dont know. I am iffy on the public transport options but we'll see.

You can also take an Amtrak Talgo train from Seattle to Vancouver. They are very nice.

Puppy won't you find out about your order in December 2008?

I want things settled as soon as possible. Most hotels are opening up bookings in January/February 2009 and I'll see what's what. I am thinking of staying in Richmond or Burnaby.

CoSport has opened the ticket orders for the rest of the world the same day as Canadians could apply. The tickets come from a seperate pool to the Canadian tickets. After the Beijing fiasco (late sales, delayed allocations and a general lack of tickets all round) VANOC really put the foot down and wants everything done in line with their local sales schedule.

therefore the ticket request window is now until early November, and like Canada we get our confirmations and charged for our tickets in Mid December.

Faster - as with Beijing I found waiting for accomodation a better option. I will however make a booking for a place early in 2009 as I dont think Vancouver and surrounds will have the ridiculous amount of new hotels springing up like Beijing did. I will not worry about flights until the end of 2009. There will be no issues getting in and out of Vancouver.

If I go, I think I am driving up. It's only 15 hours from San Francisco. Stop in Portland and then continue.

Otherwise fly to Seattle and rent a car. I am not even going to think about flying into Vancouver - that would be a nightmare.

Although I imagine customs will be a nightmare all around.

Accommodations - my supposed friend at the Four Seasons has not gotten back to me
