Toronto 2015

Well, now that a new mayor has been elected in Toronto, how will the preparations for the 2015 Pan American Games be affected by Ford's election to the office?

It'll be intriguing - ie the transporation that was to be built for the pan-am games appear to be going down the tubes now. But Ford hasnt said much about it - and nothing has really leaked about it yet. I imagine he'll be fine with it so long as there is very little cost for the city.

Let's just hope that he doesn't make Toronto unattractive for future events to come. Besides, with 2010 about to close soon, Toronto has virtually no time to waste on building and/or renovating the venues necessary for a successful Pan American Games.

Hamilton has received the news it has been waiting for.

Officials have announced the city’s application for the renovation of Ivor Wynne stadium has been officially approved.

In a statement, TO2015 CEO Ian Troop said Ivor Wynne met all of the Games’ priorities, including site suitability, funding, FIFA-grade soccer features, timing and a long-term sports legacy.

“TO2015 is looking forward to working closely with the City of Hamilton and its community partners to help ensure the soccer facility is delivered on time, on budget and on scope,” Troop stated.

There are published reports that Women's baseball will be added to the 2015 Pan American Games with Golf. (Also Australian Rules football? was rejected).

Women's BASEBALL? Not likely!

Softball, we hope!

Baseball > Softball any day.

But women's softball is already on the program.

Softball (played only by women in the OG) and baseball (men) were dropped from the program.

Women don't usually play baseball.

Both groups have been lobbying to get back into the OG.

Actually there is a women's baseball world cup, which was attended by 12 countries last time.
