olympian
It's funny, they put Trevor Linden in there, but not Wayne Gretzky? Saw a bunch of others in there like Cindy Klassen, Rick Hansen, Sarah McLachlan. they probably picked trevor since he played for the canucks and retired as a canuck as well. mattygs
Oh...found this in an article on the "One World, One Dream" launch in Beijing:Factbox: Slogans of previous summer Olympic Games Following are the slogans of previous Olympic Games: Seoul Summer Olympics in 1988 -- Harmony and Progress Barcelona Summer Olympics in 1992 -- Friends Forever Atlanta Summer Olympics in 1996 -- The Celebration of the Century Sydney Summer Olympics in 2000 -- Share the Spirit Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002 -- Light the Fire Within Athens Summer Olympics in 2004 -- Welcome Home I think Nagano had a couple, kinda gushy maybe - Games from the Heart, Together with Love - From around the world, to flower as one I dunno, I don't mind the Vancouver slogan - prefer it to the far too chirpy *One world one dream*. I kinda prefer the slightly more abstract ones like 2010 has come up with, or Torino's *Passion Lives Here*.

miniaturesnickers
Maybe, but Gretzky is more known internationally than Linden. I think it's only a national campaign at this stage.
Kenadian
Yeah, we do moan a lot. Just as I'm sure every nation does when it is their turn. But in a few days or weeks, we'll be OK with it. It is just that we have such great expectations for these games. It will pass.
Rob2012
Best slogan since Athens, though I guess if I were Canadian I might think it unoriginal. I wouldn't have known it was part of your National Anthem until others mentioned it (showing my ignorance there). I think it sums up the Games nicely, even if the cool colours within the branding don't fit it exactly. I mean, "Passion Lives Here" sounds like a bad English translation of a real slogan, and any sloganising surrounding the Beijing Games, rightly or wrongly, to me sounded like blunt propaganda. Be interesting to see whether London sticks with "Everyone's". I think VANOC have chosen well. Edited September 26, 2008 by Rob ♪

Guardian
Try living next door to them!j/k btw You know, it's not bad. When I first read it I was like, o.k., how unoriginal. But now I am thinking it's got potential. Altho, unfortunately, that damn national anthem is now stuck in my head. You mean like this YouTube clip I uploaded: "O Canada" From Lillehammer 1994. Olympian2004
Actually, I like the slogan. It relates strongly to Canada, just like "Welcome home" related to Greece as birthplace of the Olympic Games. And it's different from that usual and actually less creative "Share the spirit/Light the flame/One world" stuff. You have to be creative to take also the national anthem into consideration for your slogan! I, for my part, would never have thought about that. And "With Glowing Hearts" expresses more of the passion for winter sports which Torino (unsuccessfully) wanted to convey with its "Passion Lives Here", while there were half-empty venues. I think that the Vancouver Games will have a fantastic atmosphere, with much more "winter sports-addicted" spectators than in Italy. Therefore, I think that the slogan is very adequate for the Games. baron-pierreIV
2 things: Atlanta's was really "The Centennial Olympic Games" (which is why Sydney followed with the Games of the New Millenium). How could the 100th anniversary edition pass that up? This "With Glowing Hearts" thing -- oh God, I can just picture a moment in the Opening C's when the lights will dim and maybe 2010 performers will have their pacemakers glow and light up!!! And I was going to submit medal designs in the shape of hearts!! Edited September 27, 2008 by baron-pierreIV
mr.x
wow....the French video of "With Glowing Hearts" is quite different from the English one: http://www.vancouver2010.com/fr/section-po...eo-gallery.html There are a lot more faces in the French version, new ones - all Quebecois. Some of the English video faces didn't even appear in the French version.

I actually don't think its going to have a great atmosphere. You will have the business elite in the prime sets that the television will show, with a few international die-hard fans and than all the Canadian fans up in the nose-bleeds. It will be just like at Vancouver and Toronto hockey games. Plus Canadian sports officials tend to be uptight, they won't be the huge banners and flags like at previous games and there has been rumors that cow bells and other traditional noisemakers, that the Swiss, Dutch and Norwegians are known for, won't be aloud into the venues because it might upset the rich that can afford the good sets.
