Sir Rols Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 I think there were kind of balloons, which formed teh silhouette of teh Opera House in the handover segment in Atlanta...That was impressive - but I don't remember what Sydney did further... All Australians remember the cycling kangaroos (which I didn't mind so much, but seemed to embarass most other Ausies).
GBModerator Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 It died for about 15mins during the opening grrrr. 5hrs to go.... i'm preparing my banger and mash, jellied eels and a nice cup of tea for the clsoing ceremony.... We should play cliche bingo for the UK hand over... Red Bus, Bowler Hats, Umbrellas, HOUSE! I am getting nervous re our handover though! We're on an upgraded server since the opening ceremonies - it will be much better this time. Also, there were no "database errors" during the opening ceremonies. It was very slow and at times the application disallowed requests because it had reached capacity (by design) but there were no crashes.

Citius Altius Fortius Posted August 24, 2008 Author Report Posted August 24, 2008 so it seems to begin in few moments
Cobi Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 Spectacular fireworks over the stadium announce that the closing ceremony has begun!
Citius Altius Fortius Posted August 24, 2008 Author Report Posted August 24, 2008 I just recognised wasn't the Greek anthem played at the ceremonies, too?
Citius Altius Fortius Posted August 24, 2008 Author Report Posted August 24, 2008 well, quite nice the first segment, but it hasn't knock me out of my sox so far...
Citius Altius Fortius Posted August 24, 2008 Author Report Posted August 24, 2008 (edited) these wheels out of light are fantastic Edited August 24, 2008 by Citius Altius Fortius

rav3n Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 For the moment i love the powerful music and the light weels. The rest, way too much old school for me
theone Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 (edited) lol! even ASTRO is bored... 2 commercial breaks already! the wheels remind me of LA1984 closing where Lionel Ritchie sang on stage. Edited August 24, 2008 by theone
rav3n Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 No way D8, the entrance of flags ALREADY :S ?? Is it over so soon. I hope not ¬_¬ but i'm having the feeling BOCOG ran out of money after that opening ceremony
Rich Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 bbc have already said this is a scaled down ceremony compared to the opening ceremony... i don't think london 2012 contribution to the closing will be subtle!
mattygs Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 Well , compare it to the opening ten minutes of past closing ceremonies guys, the start of a closing ceremony isnt normally where the big bang goes. And nah, there are 7000 performers in this thing, still far more to go. The music for the last segment was pretty kewl.
Lee Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 First time I have heard this. The UK commentator has said that the Chinese have said that the closing ceremony is much more scaled down compared to the Opening. Perhaps I don't pay attention.
