Best Olympic Commercials

For Canada, in my opinion:

THE BEST: Bombardier's train commercial featuring their high-speed train and Chinese citizens looking for "choo choo" horn blasts. Bombardier is an official Canadian Olympic sponsor from 2008-2012 and has been given the responsibility to design the Olympic cauldrons and torches for the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver.

THE WORST: Wonderbread Canada promoting the 2010 Winter Games athletes rather than the ongoing 2008 Summer Games and the athletes in competition right now.....it annoys me, pisses me off and it's rather insulting to the athletes overseas competing. It's because of this lack of attention and awareness to summer sports that we're not doing as well as we should be, being one of the wealthiest nations on the planet. Wonderbread is an official sponsor for Vancouver 2010, and is also a sponsor of Canadian Olympic athletes from 2008-2012.

There has been quite a few here in Australia, though I can't say all of them hit their mark. But to me, the top 2 would have to be this QANTAS commercial. It just has this inspirational feel to it, even though I am not an athlete, it sums up what the rest of the population has to say to an Athlete.

The other one that I like, is the Bendigo Bank ad, I can't seem to find a link to it on here, but it has a yellow boxing kangaroo talking about the Olympics, funny and cute!

I agree the Lenovo commercials are hilarious.

I've been loving how beautiful the Visa commercials with Morgan Freeman have been, and how quickly they get them out. I remembered seeing the Nastia-All-Around commercial at the first commercial break after her win:

Another one of those quick turnarounds was for Phelps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7W45Fr6NRA

The Visa commercial about Kerri Strug in 1996:

The ad I'm most tired of (and is way too overpaid):

Is it just me or has the IOC not continued their Celebrate Humanity campaign for Beijing? I haven't seen any of those commercials this time around.

2008 Official Beijing Olympics Commercial - Heroes

The theme of the campaign is "The Best of Us" - a simple, powerful idea that transcends cultures and borders, motivating young people around the world to participate in sport by proving that sport can bring out the best of them.

Heroes - Legendary Olympic athletes including Roger Federer, Yao Ming, Laure Manaudou, Liu Xiang, Yelena Isinbayeva, Kenenisa Bekele, Haile Gebrselelassie, Vanessa Ferrari and Carolina Kluft who, star as superheroes seeking to achieve the seemingly impossible.

BTW, for those who don't know, the Aussie Olympian all of the Aussies including Cathy Freeman wishing her well in the suitcase to Beijing on the Qantas TV commercial TorneroBlu brought out is "Lethal Leisel" Jones, though it could apply to any Aussie Olympian. At first, I thought it might have been Erin Philipps from the Opals, the Australian women's basketball team, since they both look alike.

I really love that Coca-Cola Yao Ming-Lebron James duel commercial.

Here's my contribution to this thread: Nike, the official outfitter for USA Basketball, presents the Redeem Team in their pursuit for their return of golden glory with the full two minute and thrity second commercial with the late, great genuis that was Marvin Gaye performing the greatest (and most soulful) ever rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at the 1983 NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles as the soundtrack. Sing that song, Marvin! :D Interesting trivia: Gaye's Star Spangled Banner video started VH1's broadcast on April 1, 1985, one year after his tragic shooting death at the hands of his father.
