Tanaka_Ray Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 And Indonesia takes the GOLD in the Men's doubles! Congratulations!! Thank you bro, finally first gold in Beijing 2008, hope tonight we get another gold
theone Posted August 17, 2008 Author Report Posted August 17, 2008 (edited) Brilliant game by the Korean mixed doubles team, denying the world #1 Indonesian pair the gold. Never thought a Korean pair to enter final in this one, let alone winning the gold! Great job, Koreans. Congrats to Indonesian for winning the men's doubles gold yesterday and the women's singles bronze (this one was unexpected). Next match, the one everyone's waiting for... men's singles final.. the last match for badminton in this Olympics. #1 Lin Dan CHN vs #2 Lee Chong Wei MAS Edited August 17, 2008 by theone
theone Posted August 17, 2008 Author Report Posted August 17, 2008 (edited) Things are not looking good for Lee Chong Wei... Lin Dan is just superb. He won 21-12 in the first and now leading 11-1 in the second set. Poor Chong Wei.. Edited August 17, 2008 by theone
micheal_warren Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Looks like a SILVER medal for malaysia
theone Posted August 17, 2008 Author Report Posted August 17, 2008 A silver for Malaysia.. we'll take it. Lin Dan was on fire. He deserved it. The only #1 player in history to win the Olympic gold! Lee Chong Wei was simply overwhelmed by Lin Dan's performance. Congrats China!
micheal_warren Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Congratulations china, but congratulations to Malaysia for a brilliant silver medal! Well deserved
huaiwei Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Brilliant game by the Korean mixed doubles team, denying the world #1 Indonesian pair the gold. Never thought a Korean pair to enter final in this one, let alone winning the gold!Great job, Koreans. Indeed they must be the best performers of the entire Badminton tournament. They are the only unseeded player/team to enter the finals in any of the five events, defeating two seeded teams en-route to winning their gold. An amazing run indeed in an event which also saw the shock exit of the top Chinese pair to the unknowns from the UK. It has been a delight following the tournaments!
huaiwei Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Congratulations china, but congratulations to Malaysia for a brilliant silver medal! Well deserved Indeed, and I was delighted to note that currently, three Southeast Asian nations, namely Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam share the same position on the medal tally. And that's Malaysia's first medal for 12 years, Singapore's first medal for 48 years, and Vietnam's first medal for 8 years. TO understand how significant this is to all three countries involved, Malaysia now has 2 silvers and 2 bronzes in its entire Olympic carrier, while both Singapore and Vietnam has 2 silvers each since they participated in the games. Here's a toast to all!
Tanaka_Ray Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Too bad for MAS, I can't watch the match coz neither TVRI or CCTV broadcast the match, but when I heard the news, mmh... look like super dan is too super for choong wei, maybe in next time will be better achievement for MAS team ? If I'm not mistake, the best chance for MAS to get GOLD in olympic history was in Atlanta 1996 in the Men's double where MAS's pair win in the first set for 5-15, and then they lead 13-9 to INA's pair in the 2nd set... And BTW, August 17th is Indonesia's independence day, and too bad for us, because our mixed double didin't the best, we lost the bronze, and the gold...
theone Posted August 18, 2008 Author Report Posted August 18, 2008 Yeah.. too bad for Chong Wei. But Beijing proved that for the next Olympics in London, badminton will not be pressured to contribute medals for Malaysia since we'll have strong chances in Track Cycling and Archery from our young athletes.
micheal_warren Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 a silver medal is still nothing to be sneezed at!
huaiwei Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Heard Chong Wei has now become a "victim" of fierce politiking back in Penang?
