Faster
As a Canadian, I would like to personally thank the Beijing Organizers for actually having a proper instrumental form of our national anthem unlike the terrible piece of sh!t that Athens played. Faster
Who cares? Its not like its ever going to be heard. It was a media scandal here in Athens, so its nice China made an effort.

Olympian2004
You Canadians have one of the most beautiful national anthems in the world anyway -- so I think it's almost impossible to destroy its magic (maybe only by a rather dull bass performance like the one Ben Heppner did in Torino ). Frankly, I was shocked at first when I heard the anthem's version used in Athens, but it actually grew on me. It's an unusual version, yes -- but I actually don't think that it's a bad one. But I understand everyone for whom this is too much of a break with tradition. And did you know that the infamous Athens version was actually arranged by a then-Canadian, namely Peter Breiner? By the way: My favourite performance of "O Canada" still remains this one: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=jBnF08Xn06g Even I as non-Canadian get tears in my eyes from it. Faster
Most Canadians are indifferent to our national anthem, it doesn't have the passion, history or meaning that anthems like France, Germany and Italy.

Faster
There is some controversy over the anthem's words The line 'Our home and native land' - this pisses off the natives who mock it by saying 'your home on native land' 'In all our sons' command' - feminist say its sexist 'God keep our land' - atheists
