Beijingers please~not -ese~

But, but... the breed of dog is Pekingese... so Beijingese...

Besides, Beijingese rhymes with please...

Peggy Lee's first draft for the "Siamese cats'" Song in "Lady and the Tramp."

We are Pekingese if you please

We are Pekingese if you don't please

We are little, royal dogs from Peking

There are no better dogs than...

So, when they couldn't get a rhyme for Peking, Disney changed the villanous animals to a pair of Siamese cats.

OK, will they have, like, 5000 Beijingerese dogs in the 5 Olympic colors, for the Closing Ceremony, performing the biggest synchornized canine routine in history???

I would rather prefer call it Beijing better than Peking, Peking's origin was not directly from Madarin but Cantonese. And Cantonese is ethnical language of the South China. BTW, that was more likely a poor name given by the imperialists of the West under the colonial period of this Chinese capital. :P

But Peking duck still sounds more delicious than the harder-sounding Beijing duck!!

This is the ceremony that is being directed by Chen Weiya I think aye?

He is the stadium theatre specialist in the wider ceremonies creative team, so will be interesting to see the style of this one, perhaps more of a traditional Chinese stadium show than Zhang Yimou will present for the opening? (even tho Zhang YImou is also involved in the closing heavily).

The first part was OK.

The second part the 'Concert' was overdone. All the songs were in Greek. What Dionysis Savopoulos (the beard man) suggested was to have a foreign athlete (it is an ATHLETE) to sing a song from his country and next to it a similar Greek song.

It was like an Eurovision... speechless.

Athens Closing was fantastic and emotional, especially fireworks were beautiful and heavy but what I found boring was their Greek songs (too many). Otherwise torch extinguishing, Athletes final entrance and concept of concert was fantastic and I think Beijing can't don better than that. I was just superb!

I liked the Athens Closing ceremony, agree that the concert was slightly long winded and could have maybe done with a big name international act (though I liked the too performances by Anna Vissi), but the first part was awesome. I especially liked the Marinella song with the middle eastern flavour.

I think it would be up there with Barcelona as my favourite Olympic Closing.

Though to me, the best mixture of a closing ceremony would be that of Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games Closing. An extremely memorable artistic segment, aswell as a good Closing Ceremony Concert.

manchester did a fab closing - unfortunately the weather refused to co-operate! the oerformers and manchester deserved better! it's something that worries me about london in 2012 - it's always warm here in july and august but god can it rain!

Is it true that British singer Leona Lewis will sing at the Closing Ceremony ? I just hope that she doesn't sing Bleeding Love, uh I'm tired of this one .

in truth no one knows! the one thing we are good at in britain is spin and i somehow would be surprised to see david beckham or leoonna at the hendover - but then again what the hell do i know?

Another thing that we can be sure of, is the after "The Cauldron Goes Out" Party..... which by looking back at past Closing Ceremonies, will of course have many Chinese singers, hopefully that will include some Hong Kong and Taiwanese singers as well..... maybe a few international acts...... wat ever they got plan, it will be one hell of an after party!!!!
