Faster
So the road for basketball teams to the current Olympic host runs through the previous Olympic host. The groups are: Group A Greece Brazil Lebanon Group B Germany New Zealand Cape Verde Group C Canada Slovenia Korea Group D Puerto Rico Croatia Cameroon I hope Canada, Germany and Greece qualify but I think it will be Puerto Rico, Germany and Greece. Athan
I won't be able to watch it because I'll be on holiday, but Greece should qualify: runner-up at the World Championships where only the winner (Spain ) qualified, and fourth at the European Championships where the winner (Russia) and the runner-up (Spain) qualified but Spain was already qualified, so the bronze medal winner (Lithuania) took the spot. Is that bad luck? Well, Germany has a great team and should have no problems on qualifying. But the third team could be Canada, Puerto Rico, New Zealand, Croatia or even Slovenia. Durban Sandshark
The Tall Blacks are, despite the international pedigree they now have, undersized to make serious inroads in the qualification tournament. My picks: Greece, Germany, and Canada Puerto Rico could do it, but they are not the team they were a few years back, starting with 2006.

AmaniS
Went to a game Friday, Germany vs Canada. 84-74 Germany did well with its defense, but still needs a little work as a team. Canada was playing strong, but then lost it completely in the second half. I would like to see some of the Athens games. Anyone know if Eurosport is showing any of them. Durban Sandshark
I'm surprised the Germany had to go into a third place match just to get a spot into Beijing. I thought they'll go in winning their semi. Anyway, many congrats to them, and this will boost German basketball's profile even further. I can take solace that I picked two of the three right. Pity for Canada (more on that later)...
