This confirms that I better not be tempted enough and turn on CCTV-International during that day only to end up getting the Ceremony spoiled by their news highlights before NBC’s broadcast. Shame about the tape delay, but given the ceremonies would be 5 hours and on pretty early in the morning in the Eastern US, this is unfortunately the only way for most people to see it. That said... I owe the planners at NBC a round of drinks. Very sound schedule and as long as they keep to the schedule, this is going to be a lot of fun. But, I do have some things that are notable, particularly pertaining to the online coverage. Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Diving, Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Swimming, Track & Field, Trampoline and Indoor Volleyball are NOT Offered With Streaming Coverage. All other sports are indicated as being available live (for example, live Handball at 9 Eastern on August 8th) There's also no indication that the pre-ceremony preliminary football/soccer matches will be available online. And, hearing the rumors that TV broadcasted games will be delayed--there's some questions as to the streaming "Women's Soccer" on day 1 for example, includes ALL the games, or just some. Posted July 10, 2008 Report Share Posted July 10, 2008 Question: Will the Live Streaming Broadband Coverage on August 8th (Women's Archery, Men’s & Women's Badminton, Women's Fencing, Men's & Women's Judo, Sailing, etc.) be streamed online as the Opening Ceremony is aired on NBC? Durban Sandshark Posted July 10, 2008 Report Share Posted July 10, 2008 We gotta realize that NBC's Olympic programming is still subject to change and additions. Even online. NBC would be unwise not to have the aforementioned events that Infinite_Olympics discusses included online in their entirties and with additional events that can't be seen. Like with beach volleyball, there are matches that won't get the NBC televised treatment like say a Norway-South Africa duel. I do believe the preliminary soccer matches that come prior to the Opening Ceremony will make it online for us to enjoy, but I think they'll come in at the same time the Opening Ceremony becomes Internet-ready...the 12-hour period since most think the Olympics start then.
