cfm Jeremie
Here are the Tokyo 2016 applicant and candidate city logos. I think the work done on the logo makes it more dynamic.
Rob.
It's an improvement, but I still don't like it much to be honest.

Yeah, it's an inoffensive, 'so-what?' design. OK, so it's an indigenous Japanese thing -- so what? Still is (mistakenly) open to "tied up in a knot" interpretation in the western mind. And I would've used the Rising Sun in "T*kyo" as well as in 2*16. Much more clever. But they didn't ask. So....
barrack
It's an improvement. I'm still not a fan of the fade effect behind the knot though.
NY20??
With the matching colors on the rings, it does work better.
Tanaka_Ray
BTW, how about another candidate cities ? As far as i know, Chicago just change their logo too, they just change the letter from applicant city become candidate city, in rio and madrid logo they still have the word "applicant city" in their logo, is there any possibility for them to make a little change too to their logo ? NY20??
^I would assume all applicant cities that made the shortlist must change their logos to include "candidate city" and the Olympic Rings. So I'm pretty sure they'll eventually get to it, Tanaka Ray.
Tanaka_Ray
^ Hmm you are right, at least they must changed the word "applicant city" with the word "candidate city" they also must add the olympic ring now, and chicago just done it, they just change the word from the "applicant city" become "candidate city" and they add the olympic ring
