ALL FULL DRESSED IN THE SECOND REHEARSAL

OK, Maryjane -- are the performers in Photo #1 the "phoenices" (that's the other, correct spelling of the plural of 'phoenix') -- as you had said?

#2 - See, I think those ladies costumed as 'flowers' will match the 'cauldron' which I believe will be some sort of flower.

What do I think?

#1 - No. There isn't going to be a pre-show. THe OC starts at 8:08pm. We've already seen the Countdown. Anything before that would be anti-climactic.

#2 - You mentioned you saw multi-colored 'phoenices.' So I think it's those outfits in yellow and orange (like feathers). It makes sense for a bird/phoenix to land on a flower. So I think the 'flame' will be the pistil of the flower/cauldron. The 'phoenix' is going to carry the flame to the roof; but it will be a burning flower. That's my guess.

#1-Ha..you are wrong, there would be warming up performances just before 8:00 pm OC. like between 6:00pm to 7:30pm features all ethnic minorities of China

#2.No~ the multi-colored phoenixes are just the CGI graphics like you the whales on the birdnest's roll your saw. But not neccessarily belong to the lighting segment.

About Theme Tune of Beijing 2008

The Leaked News might be <<拥抱爱的梦想 (Embrace the Dream of Love)>>

Sung by Andrea Bocelli & Sarah Brightman

It's not Sarah Brightman on this video, is Jane Zhang

But I liked this one, although is more likely to be presented on the Closing Ceremony rather than the Opening .

Here in Brazil the Opening Ceremony will be broadcasted live and without interruptions, at least it has been this way since Barcelona 92, the first Games that I remember . B)

Well, Athens 2004 OC was transmitted without interruptions too back then (on the Meridiano TV channel), but the coverage of the closing ceremony was very poor T_T (they cutted the extinguishing of the cauldron, well at least i had TV Globo on my cable service back then). And on Torino 2006, they cutted the ceremonies a lot, but oh well, i guess it was because of the lack of interest on the winter games. I hope Meridiano shows the OC without cuts (since it will be very early, like 7:00 AM, and there are not much interesting events on that moment, besides the F1, i see hard that they cut the OC this time like on Torino).

Anyway, the TVes national channel has bought the rights to transmit the olympics (which they're promoting very good, better than Meridiano) so i guess i better trust this channel, altough i hate the fact that they don't have such a great quality like the sport channel.

I really like that song, as far as a potential Olympic anthem goes anyway.

It has that anthemic quality of Friends for life from Barcelona, and yup, far better than the cheese poof fest tracks that have come out so far - even though Beijing Welcomes You is extremely catchy.

I don't agree with you zainhasan. Because it's a rough rehearsal, including lighting and cameras all off..I am sure it would spetacular when it comes to the big night

You are right Mary, but Athens was all about concepts, emotions and bold history but what I am observing here on gamesbids about Beijing 2008 that they are using too many performers instead of creative material and objects (except roll and globe).

Lets see what they have prepared for the world.

Hasan, there are at least 2 sides to everything. One could say that Athens did not use ENOUGH performers and relied too much on abstract themes.

Concepts? Every show of the last 2 decades has a "concept." It's just whether that concept strikes a viewer or not

Emotions? Athens was a cold, joyless opening.

Bold History? Uhmmm...I'd withhold judgment on that. <_<

These Ceremonies are going to be a slamdunk!!

I will comment after final show, but I am not expecting anything better than Athens.

The Opening in Athens was beautiful but as baron, I didn't enjoy it that much .

I don't know what to say, but some of my friends did fall into sleep while they watching it.

Maybe each nation has their own personality when they trying to express the themes of olympics. I found Turino one was dead boring..

Do you know what does Birdnest look like while it full of people? Taken from the second rearsal

20088321423838557.jpg

Thanks for the photos, maryjane.

Now, as some of those nano-morons on skyscrapercity used to remark: "oh, I don't like the red seats, this and that...yadda, yadda.."

What difference does that make once the seats are filled with people?

Now, we need photos of the exposed Cauldron. Get your spies busy working, maryjane.
