Ahmet
What about Iran and Iraq -- when they were also mortal enemies? And then only "Ireland" separating "Iraq" from "Israel"? And of course if Libya had its way, it too would've marched in as the "Islamic Republic of Libya" -- so right before "Israel" again. But if athletes can't get together in a march, then the world shouldn't have much to hope for. Don't forget that arch enemies of Armenia and Azerbaijan aren't that too far off from each other as well.

Jonafin
This may or may not be important information, but I just saw on the news tonight that countries will be marching into the Stadium according to the Chinese Alphabet, I didn't know they had one.... not like what we use anyways. Olympian2004
This may or may not be important information, but I just saw on the news tonight that countries will be marching into the Stadium according to the Chinese Alphabet, I didn't know they had one.... not like what we use anyways. Which means that Australia will be amongst the last countries to march in... That's really strange. I always thought that they'd use the Western alphabetical order, but the Pinyin names. For example, Australia is Ao-da-li-ya in Chinese, and therefore should actually still be one of the first nations to enter the stadium. Or they put diphthongs like "Ao" to the end of their "Westernised Pinyin alphabet". Now let's see whether Germany (De-guo) is still rather at the beginning of the parade -- or whether they have a strange alphabetical order in that case as well. Rich
So if they do it this way then that would means some of the big countries / contensious ones would go near the end as the following countries would begin with yi India Iran Iraq (if they go) Israel Italy = yi da li Great Britain = ying guo An interesting little group of countries! mattygs
I read an article about Australia could be something like the 200 and something nation to come out just before Zambia and then China. Something to do with having 15 strokes in the first character , or something like that.
Maryjane
Tonight is going to be another full-dressed rehearsal in Bird's Nest. Looking forward to more leaking of the pics.
Olympian2004
I just heard in the news that Germany will be at the end of the parade as well. According to that report, it will be the 199th of 205 (so I think they still included Iraq) nations. But according to a report of the newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Germany will be in fact the 198th of 204 nations. FAZ also reports that the number of strokes in the first Chinese letter of each country defines those countries' ranking in the Chinese "alphabet". Australia will be the 202nd nation, followed only by Zambia and China, while Guinea and Japan belong to the first nations of the parade. See FAZ.NET - click to page 3 (in German only) Does anyone have the time to make a full ranking according to the number of strokes in the first Chinese letter of each country? Iraq is participating again in the Olympics. So there are 205 nations again. If Germany is 199th with 205 nations and 198th with 204 nations we know Iraq is coming before Germany. mattygs
Hmmmm, is this network an official Olympic broadcaster? I would imagine they would be standing on very shakey ground if they are - the IOC would not be happy. However, the content of these videos doesnt really give too much away, since they are such short clips of each performance. It's not too different to what BOB will most likely bring out a night before the opening ceremony. Sydney, Salt Lake, Athens and Torino all released a minute highlight package taken at the final dress rehersal. The Athens one didnt give too much away (however it did feature the boat), but the Sydney one showed the flying fish, the Aboriginal performance, etc etc This isnt too different. It would be another story if a full length performance was leaked out. I think this kind of ceremony is gonna be harder to leak than it was in Athens. This seems like a more traditional style, where it is a full segment. However the case with Athens, is that you could quickly list the key images that were trying to be achieved ie: A centaur is featured a Cycladic head appears and is split up a tree on a mountain is formed etc etc

Maryjane
wow - thanks very much maryjaneI agree mattygs - the BOCOG and the IOC won't be pleased... SBS, THE OFFICAL OLYMPIC BROADCASTOR OF SOUTH KOREA. SOMEBODY SAYS IT'S A PR VIDEO. COZ BOCOG SAID THEIR FIREWORK DISPLAY ON THE FIRST REHEARSAL ONLY LEAKED ABOUT 30/40%, AND I BELIEVE IT'S THE SAME SITUATION AS THE REHEARSALS. NO LAKE YET, NO BIG SHIPS YET, NO MATRIX GREAT WALL YET......THE FINAL FORMAT OF THE SHOW STILL NOT BE LEAKED YET. SO we'll have to see whether we would get more leaked stuff out of tonight's rehearsal.

Olympian2004
It looks fantastic, especially the projections of the whales on the roof's rim, the countdown sequence and the large paper scroll being rolled out on the ground. But Maryjane, you mentioned that in the second video, one can see the final shape of the cauldron. But I didn't see it. Or did you mean the first video? There, they have a close-up of the cauldron in its hangar (around 1:46), and it looks like a red scroll or something like that (actually quite similar to the "burning fry container" of Atlanta). But I can't see the cauldron in its full shape.
rav3n
AAAAAGH OMG PEOPLE JUST TELL MEEEE . Is this a worthy show??? Because it is, i'm not going to watch that leaked pics , anyhow the chinese officials must be very very angry that their secret is being leaked continuously (this was even worst than the Athens 2004 leaked pics)

On the one hand, you don't want to see the leaked pictures, but on the other hand you want to know whether it's a worthy show? I think that the comments above say enough about the "worthiness" of the show (if it can be judged by some a-few-seconds-long snippets at all).
