Durban Sandshark
It's over now. Should be a fun and delicious final in Vienna on Sunday. I still think Der Nationalmannschaft will win it, since I picked them from the start.
Citius Altius Fortius
The final on sunday vs. The Spanish team was much better than the Russian team - wonderful goals and I hope we will see an exciting match on sunday, in which the better team will win!!! Spain is the favourite for the title - the team is really good and is playing a terrific championships...
Olympian2004
What a wonderful performance! Otra vez: ¡Felicitaciones a España! They are certainly a more deserved finalist than we are. But nevertheless, already Portugal didn't perform well (or well enough) with the burden of being the favourite on its shoulders. Although I have to admit that this burden is the last straw for Germany. The final on Sunday could become an exciting, very offensively played match. But in reality, that probably means it will become extremely tactical, defensive or destructive and thus boring. However: I'm very glad that Spain made it to the final, so that we have a classic duel between two major football countries.
Olympian2004
The rankings at this EURO so far: 1. ??? 2. ??? 3. Russia 9 points (7-8 goals) 4. Turkey 7 (8-9) 5. Croatia 10 (5-2) 6. Netherlands 9 (10-4) 7. Portugal 6 (7-6) 8. Italy 5 (3-4) 9. Switzerland 3 (3-3) 10. Sweden 3 (3-4) 11. Czech Republic 3 (4-6) 12. Romania 2 (1-3) 13. Austria 1 (1-3) 14. Poland 1 (1-4) 15. France 1 (1-6) 16. Greece 0 (1-5) I think it's interesting that, regarding their number of points and their goal difference, Croatia and the Netherlands are actually better than both the third and fourth of this tournament, Russia and Turkey. Also it's interesting that Austria had a better result than the current Vice World Champion and the current European Champion.

Faster
Here comes all the Spanish posters in here. I think Spain is going to win 3-1 against Germany on Sunday and will become the first team to go undefeated to win the European Championships. baron-pierreIV
yeah, ARRIBA ESPANA!! Well, these things always go in cycles. Certain forces always crest at some point or other while long-time favorites fade away. I guess the King and Queen will be back on Sunday. I guess they only sent the Crown Prince tonight since the Russians had massacred their relatives nearly 90 years ago.
Faster
I am not gonna make any silly full predictions but my dark-horse winner is Turkey, by preferred final is Germany vs. Spain and if Germany doesn't win, I want Spain to. I would fancy Croatia more if they weren't missing their leading scorer Eduardo da Silva. This was part of my first post to open this tread. I find it funny that it was on the mark in so many ways. Turkey was the big dark horse in getting to the semis, the final is Germany vs Spain and Croatia's main problem was the lack of timely scoring without Eduardo. Mainad
I had expected and looked forward to seeing Germany and Holland in the final but I must now admit that Germany-Spain makes for a more interesting contrast.A clash of Northern against Southern Europe,Germanic order and efficiency versus Latin flair and passion and,and...assorted cliches! But it's nice to see Spain finally realise their potential after so many years of disappointment. They have deserved to get through perhaps more than Germany and the momentum might still be with them for the final, big push next Sunday night! It is always foolish to attempt to write off Germany, but I have a hunch that Spain will come through to take their first ever European title. My prediction: Spain 2 - Germany 1. arwebb
The loss of Villa for the final is a big blow for Spain, but the form of Fabregas is a big boost to them at the same time. I would never write off the Germans' capacity to get the rub of the green, but it just seems to me that Spain's time has come.

The two (well one is tied) highest scoring teams have reached the final.
Faster
I have a question, do you think the final will have more or less than 3 goals? I was on my betting website and they are giving pretty much 1:1 odds on the final tournament goals to be between 72 and 78 and 27:1 odds on 79 and over. I am thinking that the game will be 2-1 or 3-0 or 3-1 or 2-2, all of which would put the tournament total (at 76) at 79 or above.
Tanaka_Ray
Hmm... 1st half is bored, but 2nd half spanish made improvement, the russian not played well last night, I'm disappointed with how the russian played the games, when I saw last night match, I hope that the netherlands is the one who played with spain, not that terrible russia. Question : for Spain : Is David Villa really injuried so he can play in final ? for Germany : Why Arne Friedrich now is stater where is Marcel Jansen ? Tanaka_Ray
Friedrich is a better defended. And yes David Villa is out for the final Hmm.... If Spain can play like the 2nd half in their last match, I guess Germany will have a big trouble, coz their biggest disadvantage is on Lehmann, but without Villa, Spain now have another problem too, I guess IF Spain really lost Villa in the final, Spain will use 4 - 5 - 1 formation, with Torres is their single striker and Fabregas stand behind Torres, Another question : Is Germany will play with their best 11 ? I mean is there anybody injuried in Germany starting 11 ?
Faster
My guess for Germany would be Lehmann Arne Friedrich, Per Mertesacker, Christoph Metzelder, Philipp Lahm Bastian Schweinsteiger, Michael Ballack, Simon Rolfes, Thomas Hitzlsperger, Lukas Podolski Miroslav Klose Germany is playing a 4-5-1. I would assume that Frings, Frtiz and Borowski are the most likely subs for the later half, especially if Germany is winning. Spain will probably play with Torres and Guiza up front and Fabregas as a sub again. Though I think Fabregas should play instead of Iniesta. Tanaka_Ray
For me Guiza is not good enough, he has a lot of chance last night, but he only scored one , so better for Spain use 4-5-1 formation with Fabregas is the second striker For Germany, Faster, why Germany not use 4-4-2 instead of 4-5-1 ? Podolski can act as striker too with Klose, and the midfielder will be Ballack, Schweinsteiger, Hitzpelger, and Rofles or Frings ?

Guiza is Spain's 3rd striker and I don't seem them not having 2 strikers on the pitch. Especially since Germany is going to be playing a 4-5-1. Germany wins when they control the midfield and Podolski is a fairly good flanking midfield player, look at the 2 goals he set up for Schweinsteiger. Also all 3 of his goals where as a flanking midfielder.
Tanaka_Ray
Hmm... I knew Podolski is good when he played on midfielder, If you thought that Spain will play with 4-4-2 formation, maybe you are right, but IF I be the spanish coach, I will play with 4-5-1 too

Faster
Spain have outscored their opponents by eleven to three. Excellent going forward and pretty solid at the back. Did I saw they weren't. I was responding to M about him saying Spain are more deserving finalist. Spain has had some problems, the games against Sweden and Italy will give the Germans something to go from, as will the Croatian and Turkish games give information to Spain. Faster
I find it interesting that the shortest odds are on a 1-1 outcome. Traditional this would favour Germany, but the Spanish keeper is far better than Lehmann.
Citius Altius Fortius
@ faster - here is the translation of the last popular German football song - it is the song of the WC2006: '54, '74, '90, 2006 - after Germany didn't reach the final it was changed into '54, '74, '90, 2010 (by Sportfreunde Stiller) and the lyrics are changed a little bit Eins und zwei und drei und '54,'74,'90,2010 One and two and three and '54,'74,'90,2010 ja so stimmen wir alle ein. yeah we all sing this song. Faster
I really hope there is a lot of goals in the final, hopefully another 3-2 German win. It would be wonderful (I have 70 dollars on the tournament finishing with 79 or more goals and the Spanish and Germans need to bulge the basket 3 times to do that.) It would be enough to buy me a new computer. Thanks CAF for all the translations, I do hope to learn German one day.
Mikel
I have a hunch that Spain will come through to take their first ever European title. It isn't correct: Spain DO have an European title, we won Euro 1964 at home against the USSR. What I wonder is if this achievement (our last final in a big tournament was back in 1984 against France) will be a revulsive for our bid with Portugal for the WC2018 (in technical aspects, eight of the accredited 5-star UEFA Stadiums are located in Portugal and Spain, which is the most of any current European-based bid).
