Good place to start Winter Olympics.

no thanks, you don't fit with my idea of a mascot

Sorry!I never asked for one.

I mean I never asked to be a mascot.

This bid is much more difficult than the Hamburg bid since I am not a Canberrian and I have to read a lot about the ACT and the Snowy Mountains...

I have done two different bid maps, but I am not satisfied with it - the logo is finished and I think it is great!!!

I expect something like the bid being centered in 2 clusters, Canberra city (not the whole ACT) for ice events, and Snowy Mountains/Perisher Blue resort for Alpine events. I would expect a high speed rail link to easily cut transportation times so those who choose to stay in Canberra, can easily watch an Alpine event in the day, and return to Canberra city by night.

mhhh - it is really a little bit difficult to find the right ski venues:

I have checked all Australian ski resorts:

- Perisher (NSW)

- Thredbo (NSW)

- Falls Creek (VIC)

- Mt. Buller (VIC)

- Mt. Hotham (VIC)

and I have decided which one(or two or three) I will take...

Forget Victoria, unless the bid is Melbourne- Mt Buller or whatever.

I have the approach that you have to feel a country, when you write a bid - since I am a huge OZ fan it is fun for me to read everything about the country - and for the bid I have to get as much information as I can...

Not sure why, but it`s a country I have no desire to visit.
I do have relatives in a suburb of Melbourne though.

Kaufy,

I would have visited them frequently, if they were my relatives.

Aussies are really friendly - the country is soo wonderful - total different fauna and flora than here - timtams are just great (I ate them together with fruit joghurt (yeah I know that sounds crazy in Aussie ears, but try it: just dip the double coated chocolate ones in strawberry joghurt) - vegemite on toast - and the seafood!!! (I suppose that is a result of G. fantastic cooking)!!!

*You will laugh, but I just drink a tea out of my "Australia-Flag-Mug"!!!*

lol! I don`t know, think it`s because it is so far away, distant to me. The relatives I got there aren`t so close to our family anymore, so I couldn`t just say turn up and say hello I will stay with you now :P

I didn`t watch all of discussion last night :( I had much in my apartment happening so couldn`t concentrate. Had to write an article on how the Presidential election will likely effect Eastern Europe, and also listen to my flatmates go crazy because FC Schalke 04 did beat Porto last evening :D

well - Aussies are very very hospitable!!!!

lol - I suppose you needed some oropax, during the penalties...

haha, well i don`t support Schalke, but of course was happy that they won against the Portuguese. I live with 2 other German guys, both who support 04. They should learn that Stuttgart is the only team worth supporting.

dududududu!!

Have supported Stuttgart all my life, sicne I were a kid... it`s my dad`s team as well :P

Back to Canberra bid, when can we expect to see the bid book Martin?

Mhh - I thought I won't publish anything before TNMP officially release them - here is a video for all Oz-Fans to shorten the waiting time - it is just fantastic how the fans start the Aussie anthem at 3:48 spontanously vs. the music out of the music box - what wonderful athmosphere!!!

I have nearly the venue plan ready - and I really hope that our Aussie members will be satisfied with my Canberra Bid - I promise you I will do my very best to bring the Winter Games to one of the most wonderful countries of the world: AUSTRALIA

You have already given your bid a hard nudge of poor planning.

In what way, James? He hasn't shown you anything, or posted any plans on the board yet.

Be sure to keep me posted with what you have come up with for venue ideas. Perhaps I could suggest some venues that you may not have thought of adding to this bid.

... thanks very much David - I tried to ask you something yesterday, but your inbox is full, therefore I solved the problem myself (had something to do with the Great Dividing Range) - the plan for the skiing events is finished (maps are drawn) - I just think about the plan for the skating events - found marvellous maps on the internet (especially Canberra will look amazing!!!)
