Citius Altius Fortius Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 I have received the Canberra bid book - and it is pretty damn impressive! thanks troy, I am very glad you like it!
james Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Hi there - things are going OK - thanks for the kind thoughts. So we will accept no new applicants after tomorrow. The bid books are due asap - let me know how long you need. The basic structure is similar to the 2016 bid books - the main points that need to be covered are your venue plans, the dates planned, village concept, ticketing and look of the Games as well as adding any transport or accommodation info you think is important, etc. I have received the Canberra bid book - and it is pretty damn impressive! Get to it! BTW - Abyja was just a joke. i will submit a bid - but am not sure which city. Give me a few hours to decide!! Why is Abuja a joke? Why my friend?
skicross Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 I will send you the Zaragoza bid book this weekend.
NYCD 2012 Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Put me in with MacedoniaBut again I'll need more time - two weeks or lmaybe less Just wondering , will that be Greek Macedonia or the FYR Macedonia.
Lord David Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Okay, I'll try Anchorage. Will try to meet the Easter Sunday deadline, probably a few more days needed after that just in case. You gonna be doing that multipurpose arena dealie like in the 1994 bid? Shall you be drawing heavily from the 1992/1994 bids?
ghost1 Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Just wondering , will that be Greek Macedonia or the FYR Macedonia. It's going to be Great Macedonia
wingspread Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 You gonna be doing that multipurpose arena dealie like in the 1994 bid? Shall you be drawing heavily from the 1992/1994 bids? I only have the PDF files of the 1994 bid, so that will be my guide. I'll try to make the venue plan different, of course. It's been almost two decades already and I'm sure there are more options now to create a better plan. Even if I like the idea of of having a multipurpose arena, I don't think that such an arrangement will be feasible today given the increased events, attendance and participation.

Yes, you do have a point. The possible tight schedule would probably prohibit the movement of seating in the multipurpose arena, unless of course changes in configuration are done at night or early in the morning. Also, 20,000 max capacity is probably not big enough for the hosting of ceremonies.
Citius Altius Fortius Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Has TNMP announced yet the last day until the bid books had to be sent to him and on what day he will publish the bid books?
skicross Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 What are the deadlines and the final applicant cities?
Faster Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I think the deadline is this Sunday to get the books in, puppy is then gonna look through them and post a ranking.
Lord David Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 Well if that is the case, I aught to get my book done soon!
Lord David Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 Almost done, one more day should be sufficient, hopefully I can get it done by tonight, AEST.
Rafa Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 For some reason I was unaware of the deadline. Could I get an extension?
thatsnotmypuppy Posted March 22, 2008 Author Report Posted March 22, 2008 The Easter Sunday was a suggestion - I always just said get them to me ASAP - so if you can do it within another week that is OK.
Citius Altius Fortius Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 TNMP, is it possible to "refresh" the bid books, which you have already received? I mean when I have an idea for my bid now, could I sent you an "updated" version?
Lord David Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 The Easter Sunday was a suggestion - I always just said get them to me ASAP - so if you can do it within another week that is OK. Ooh, another week? Neat, thanks. Not that I need another week, it should be done by my Monday's end.
thatsnotmypuppy Posted March 24, 2008 Author Report Posted March 24, 2008 CAF - feel free to send an amended book if you want to. Deadline for all books is 30/03/2008.
james Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 What's taking this bid so long after the unfortunate incidence of Thatsnotmyppy's?
thatsnotmypuppy Posted March 24, 2008 Author Report Posted March 24, 2008 James - seriously just shut up. You have nothing to do with this competition so go away. The deadline has been set and the competition will proceed.
james Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 James - seriously just shut up.You have nothing to do with this competition so go away. The deadline has been set and the competition will proceed. Why?

Lord David Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 What's taking this bid so long after the unfortunate incidence of Thatsnotmyppy's? Is it not possible, that some bidding cities such as Tehran have no access to fast internets or top class 'puters? Well there's the real fact that some of us work/study for a living and try to do a little bit of the bid book each night or on the weekend. My bid book for Tehran will most definitely be done by the deadline.
