baron-pierreIV Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 I don't want to sound like a wet blanket but didn't already have a 2018 comp about 2-3 years back ? Rockie, these are fantasy bids. We can even do a 1940 Summer Games if we wanted to - Hey, there's an idea! No rules, Rockie.
Lord David Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 Rockie, these are fantasy bids. We can even do a 1940 Summer Games if we wanted to - Hey, there's an idea! No rules, Rockie. German IOC member: As for the 1940 Games, the var vill ve put on hold for it's duration, should it be possible... British IOC member: What war? There's no war. Are we to assume there would be a war in 1940? German IOC member: Oops, I have said too much. I must report to the Kommandant! I know nothing! Nothing!
james Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 I hearby announce the first official 2018 Winter Olympics Bid - Ha ha Andrew - bet you to it! Lol! Can you really do ABUJA '18 winter Olympic for us, Thatsnotmypuppy? Nature cheated on us when it comes to winter or snow. Maybe one can also cheat nature by formulating an Abuja bid. Don't you guys think so?
NYCD 2012 Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 Hey Puppy did a Dubai bid for our first 2018 comp. With Troy, anything is possible !
Aronious Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Is it just me or is 2018 off to a very very slow start?
Faster Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Is it just me or is 2018 off to a very very slow start? Troy has had business and personal problems, therefore its on hold for now.
Citius Altius Fortius Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 I sent tnmp my Canberra bid book today - it is his turn to decide when the contest is restarted again...
james Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 We should know by now that Thatsnotmypuppy is pre-occupied with her sister's pass away. Why not let's give him time to recover back from the very sad moment?
Citius Altius Fortius Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 ... like I have already said - he decides when the time is right..
skicross Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 CAF what is the email we have to send our bid books to? I just have to check spelling mistakes and it will be ready.
Citius Altius Fortius Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 CAF what is the email we have to send our bid books to? I just have to check spelling mistakes and it will be ready. in the last competition he gave the following address: nyc2012@gmail.com I sent it to this e-mail again... Mourning is something very very personal: on one hand it is possible that he can't go on with the competition right now on the other hand it is possible, too, that he wants to detract himself (then such competition is exactly what he needs now) Like I have already said that is his decision - I can just offer him my bid books - when it is too early for him right now he should publish them at the time, which fits for him...
Lord David Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 When is the deadline for the bid books? I might be able to have it done by the weekend's end.
Aronious Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 When is the deadline for the bid books? I might be able to have it done by the weekend's end. Not sure if we have a deadline yet. Maybe sometime around the 23-25th ?
Citius Altius Fortius Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 When is the deadline for the bid books? I might be able to have it done by the weekend's end. ... before tnmp left to Beijing he said that the deadline is the 16th March, but the deadline might be later now since his sister passed away...
Rafa Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 id rather evaluate the bids than create some bid book.
skicross Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 id rather evaluate the bids than create some bid book. But most of us have already done the bid book, so i would wait until TNMP said to send him the bid books...
thatsnotmypuppy Posted March 13, 2008 Author Report Posted March 13, 2008 Hi there - things are going OK - thanks for the kind thoughts. So we will accept no new applicants after tomorrow. The bid books are due asap - let me know how long you need. The basic structure is similar to the 2016 bid books - the main points that need to be covered are your venue plans, the dates planned, village concept, ticketing and look of the Games as well as adding any transport or accommodation info you think is important, etc. I have received the Canberra bid book - and it is pretty damn impressive! Get to it! BTW - Abyja was just a joke. i will submit a bid - but am not sure which city. Give me a few hours to decide!!

Alright, gimmie this weekend, maybe the Easter weekend too, but that should be sufficient. Thanks.
thatsnotmypuppy Posted March 13, 2008 Author Report Posted March 13, 2008 No worries - just keep me posted. Email all documents to nyc2012@gmail.com - thanks!
thatsnotmypuppy Posted March 13, 2008 Author Report Posted March 13, 2008 Thus far we have - ALMATY (Mo Rush) AVIEMORE (Scotguy21) CANBERRA (Citius Altius Fortius) DENVER (Faster) GENEVA (Seamus 21514) TEHRAN (Lord David) ZAKOPANE (M Tradeau) ZARAGOZA (Skicross) I am assuming Mo you aren't bothering with ALMATY, and I am not sure if Michelle will follow through with her bid... I'm thinking of doing a China bid - Changchun, Harbin or maybe even Beijing! Beijing does have some mountains nearby.... hmm...
Lord David Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 What? Huh? You don't know? There's even a thread about it! Oh never mind, it's Tehran, Iran.
thatsnotmypuppy Posted March 13, 2008 Author Report Posted March 13, 2008 I am slightly retarded right now
NYCD 2012 Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Will we have a Q & A session for the bid this time. I've got a few burning questions for some of em.
ghost1 Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Put me in with Macedonia But again I'll need more time - two weeks or lmaybe less
wingspread Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Okay, I'll try Anchorage. Will try to meet the Easter Sunday deadline, probably a few more days needed after that just in case.
