Terrible news today as it was confirmed that Laura Dahlmeier, one of the most decorated biathletes ever, has died while mountaineering in Pakistan: https://www.bbc.com/sport/articles/cdj237ly4g9o She won two gold, one bronze in 2018 plus 7 more World Championship golds and many other medals and already retired early at 25. She was a very proficient and enthusiastic climber, and only recently had set some speed record elsewhere in Pakistan. Very aware of the risks that come with extreme climbing, she left a will that stated that nobody should risk their lives to recover her body in case of an accident, like the one that now happened on Monday, and that she would rather "stay on the mountain" in that case. A tragic loss of a very modest and much loved German sports hero.
