Even though the athletics (track and field) events do not officially start until August 3, I heard news that the Olympic cauldron has been moved to a more safer place within the Olympic stadium. Therefore, the organizers can prepare the site for athletic competition. With 47 different events (and 141 Olympic medals to go for), it is the marquis sport of the Olympic Games. Today (July 29) starts the field hockey competitions. The overall schedule of the sport starts today and goes until August 10 (for the women) and August 11 (for the men). Here, the women starts things off, with their preliminary matches. Group A: - Netherlands vs. Belgium @ 10:45 BST; - China vs. South Korea @ 13:45 BST; - Great Britain vs. Japan @ 19:00 BST.
