  1. Huh.... but yeah. Let’s face it, Greece is always keen on this. Whether it will ever happen is, well,. I’d usually say unlikely, but who knows what the future will bring top the games. Anyway, again, this is just an attention seeker. And again i apologise trying to get your attention. But we are now in the final poll of 3the final round of this year’s logo comp. And it’s been hard work to actually make it happen this year. And now, we are poised for a decision, and that decision may be decided by THREE... yes, that’s 3... votes in total. It just seems a bit, I dunno, it just doesn’t
  2. Sorry for the technical delays. Thanks so much to Paul for solving them. Now we have that sorted out, it’s time to vote. And to kick it off, it’s over to Yoshi!
  3. Yes, at the risk of flogging a dead horse, I'm doing it again. Let's get it started Nicole! Thank you to the lovely Nicole Kidman, and welcome to the launch of the 10th Annual GamesBids Logo Design Comp. To say the least, it's been a bit of a quiet year on GamesBids, the festivities in August in Rio notwithstanding. Still that mid-year period did bring back some of the old spirit, and one thing that helped a lot with that IMO, was Yoshi's World Cup logo comp. I'd wondered whether I'd bother to revisit the Christmas staple again this year, but that comp did inspire me that i
  4. Ladies and Gentlemen.... It's The Beatles! Thank you John, George, Paul and Ringo for setting the tone for the coming voting events. Tomorrow Never Knows what will come indeed when it comes to the voting comps. Anyway welcome to Annapurna Base Camp, the setting for Downhill events in 2030. My Sherpas and I have been trekking to here long and hard to make it in time for the start of 2017 and the launch of voting in the Winter phase of the 2010 GamesBids Olympic Logo Comp. So let's get down to business. We gather here to decide our winning logo for the 2030 Winter O
  5. Okay, here's the deal It's been suggested numerous times over the years that we should have a poll of polls of all our past logo winners and crown an all-time winner. I've been wanting to don it myself, but have been waiting for the right moment. I was almost going to do this during the Rio Olympics, but at the end figured it would be a distraction at this stage. Now, however, I reckon this could just be the time to do it, to try and raise a bit of interest and enthusiasm for this year's mainstream logo comp, and for all of us to have a bit of fun and something to do during the submission stag
  6. And over to Yoshi - Yoshi: The group stage is over. This is where the Gamesbids Logo World Cup gets serious - it's a knockout! The groups knocked out 4, & we now have our final 8 entries that will battle it out to be champion - and it's now one-on-one from here to the end. The picture in Rols' post above shows our 8 entries in 4 pairs - the QF matches. Each of the 2 polls at the top refers to one of these matches. The groups being voted on in this thread are as follows: QF1: USA 1 v China 2. QF2: Spain v New Zealand 1. There's another thread for voting in the other matches, QFs 3 &am

  8. Voting in Groups C and D of the GamesBids FIFA World Cup 2026 Logo Comp is now open above. Voting for Groups A and B can be conducted in the other thread. Here's the draw for the comp. Yoshi will explain rules, deadlines and all that stuff in the next post. Good luck everyone.

  10. Thanks Bjork to your tribute to GamesBids 2016, and the state of the logo comp. I guess you're also here in hopes of celebrating the winner, but we have the formalities to get through first. Welcome everyone to Curascant, home of the galactic senate and our safe refuge following our timely escape from Hoth. Before we announce the winner, I want to thank all who took part in this year's comp - the competitors as well as all the members who voted. The final round attracted 21 voters. Now, I do have some concerns with voters from both sides - IdiOtiC and dear leader Kim both had me pondering,
  11. Over to you Madge... Ladies and Gentlemen, Mesdames and Monsieurs, You all caught me on the hop! I thought I had at least until the weekend before I'd have to get the ceremony ready. Instead, Bach's in the air right now trying to make it Buenos Aires in time, Madonna had to step in at short notice to open proceedings and even the Baron wasn't able to get his vendor's table set up in time. All because for once the voters were decisive. Anyway, welcome to Buenos Aires, where we gather at colourful San Telmo with the GamesBids Dance Orchestra to tango our tribute to the winner of this y
  12. And we have our short list. The results of the short list round were: New Orleans by MissEurasia - 3 votes New Orleans by mr.bernham - 8 votes Quito by Lord David - 1 vote Manila by CobiWenlock - 2 votes Be'er Sheva by Glacib - 10 votes Singapore by aismanggo - 15 votes Kochi by woohooitsme83 - 8 votes Milano by Anthony - 5 votes Buenos Aires by Paul - 15 votes Five logos made it through to the first of the finals round, with two tied for fourth place on 8 votes each. Sadly it means we say good by got the entries from MissEurasia, Lord David, CobiWenlock and Anthony. Commiserations,
  13. Ladies and Gentlemen, Mesdames et Monsieurs, Welcome back to our fine venue, Mr.Bernham’s Barely Legal Bargain Bed-n-Breakfast on Bourbon, in colourful New Orleans, Louisiana, for the launch of the next stage of our ongoing search for another logo to be bestowed with the honour of gracing my (sometime) signature banner, the GamesBids 2028 Summer Olympic Games Logo Comp. So buy some libations with some beads from Baron’s Book and Bead Barn, kick back and sing along with the Big Easy’s own Harry Connick Jnr and his tribute to logo comp runners up. This time we begin the race with nine
  14. Welcome back everyone. Okay, first things first - results of the actual poll from the last round. We had 14 voters, all valid, cast their choices. We had no majority winner, but two, CobiWenlock's LA-Denver and Glacib's Stockholm, tie for least number of votes. I find tie-breaker votes for tail-enders to be tedious and tiresome, so I'll invoke executive powers here and, sadly, eliminate both. Thanks guys - really good efforts from both of you, but as always the competition is tough. Thanks so much for entering, and we'll see you both back, though, for the summer poll. Which brings us to Hoth
  15. Happy New Year everyone. Park your X Wings and take a seat as we gather for the launch of our 2030 Winter Olympic Games logo poll. Just a reminder, this is an actual war zone, so keep your lasers and light savers handy. And rug up - it gets to -60c when the sun goes down. You sure don't wanna be caught out in that. Baron is selling wampa skin rugs and jackets for those who came unprepared - best prices this side of Mos Eisley, and an extra 10 per cent discount if you order his book as well (apologies if I left you holding a crate of smog masks, Myles). Speaking of Mos Eisley, a big hand to
  16. Okay - here we go. One vote, don't vote for your own. Yoshi to follow with any other instructions.
  17. Thanks to Nakamoto Kyu for that toe-yapping version of Sukiyaki. And thanks to palette for suggesting it. And thank you Palette and Soyoshi, for hosting our deliberations. Ladies and Gentlemen, Mesdames and Monsieurs, Herr Bach, Welcome back to Yoshi's Island. We've reached back here quicker than I expected. Luckily our graphics guys were ready. And luckily for the people of Nagoya and Tokyo, we've saved countless deaths by satisfying Godzilla by choosing a winning logo in the nick of time and enticing the big lizard to settle down with Soyoshi and family. We had a super quick resolution to
  18. With 30 members voting, we're now down to a top four in the Tokyo 2020 logo comp. Unfortunately, we now see barrack's design drop out! Thanks for entering barrack, it was great to see a past champ entering again, and making the finals in both sections. Well done! The final results were: A (nzl) - 10 B (barrack) - 1 C (mr.bernham) - 3 D (paul) - 12 (one vote from stir.ts re-allocated from E to D) E (aismanggo) - 4 (see above) All votes cast were valid. Okay, onto round 2: This voting round will be open for (approximately) 24 hours - it will close after 7am, Thursday
  19. And now it's down to five. We had a strong voting turnout of 30 members having their say. I discount one vote from barrack's (an own vote), but otherwise all the rest were valid. The results were: A (Thatsnotmypuppy) - 8 B (Anthony) - 3 C (nzl) - 15 D (MissEurasia)- 3 E (barrack) - 10 (1 own vote deducted) F (Mr Bernham) - 11 G (OlympicFanDarcy) - 2 H (Griff) - 3 I (JMarkSnow) - 3 J (DannyelBrazil) - 9 K (Scotguy) - 7 L (baron-pierreIV) - 7 M (Afiqnadzir) - 9 N (woohooitsme83) - 5 O (aismanggo) - 14 P (paul) - 19 Q (Usa2024olympics) - 2 C, E, F, O and P make it through to our
